ADMINSTERS A CHILD-CENTERED FACILITY FOR CHILD ABUSE AND WORKS WITH THE COMMUNITY FOR CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION
In 2020, Child Protect served a total of 182 children. We conducted 160 forensic interviews with suspected child abuse victims. We coordinated and provided 28 forensic medical exams for child sexual assault victims. 21 Child Protect cases resulted in criminal charges against suspected child abuse perpetrators. We had 7 criminal convictions on child abuse related crimes in 2020 We referred 65 individuals for mental health counseling services and we provided trauma-focused therapy services to 161 trauma survivors in 2020. We provided advocacy and support services to all 182 new children served in 2020.
Child Protects Starting Points Family Resource Cneter FRC program expanded in 2020 to begin providing supervised visitation services. The FRC program moved into a new office space in order to begin these services. Starting Points also provided parent and youth support groups, basic needs assistance through our on-site basic needs and clothing closets and on-site food pantry. Starting Points also provided child abuse prevention programming in Mercer County schools during 2020.
