Hole Food Rescue's mission is to reduce food waste and cultivate food security in Teton County, WY through excess food recovery, redistribution, and education.
Food Rescue Program - In 2019 Hole Food Rescue (HFR) recovered over 287,000 pounds of food. This equals more than 230,000 meals back into the community. HFR utilitzes over 100 volunteers to rescue food from local grocery stores and bakeries seven days a week, year round. HFR also rescues food from local restaurants that shut down seasonally, for example, restaurants at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and concessionaires in Grand Teton National Park.
Food Recipient Program - HFR has partnerships with 20 local nonprofits and community partners that help it redistribute rescue food to people in need. Most recipient locations are organizations that serve low- income and at-risk community members. Examples of partner agencies include: the local food bank, the Jackson Cupboard; the domestic violence shelter, the Community Safety Network; a free after school literacy program, Teton Literacy Center; and an in-school food pantry at Munger Mountain Elementary School.
