JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM'S MISSION IS TO COLLECT, PRESERVE AND EXPLORE THE NATURAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY OF JACKSON HOLE AND THE GREATER YELLOWSTONE AREA THROUGH EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND PUBLIC PROGRAMMING. VISION STATEMENT TO CONNECT PEOPLE TO PLACE BY FOSTERING AN APPRECIATION FOR OUR HISTORIES, HERITAGE AND CULTURAL TRADITIONS. TAG LINE CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH PLACE.

EDUCATION: THE JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM'S EDUCATION PROGRAM FOCUSES ON "PLACE-BASED" CURRICULUM THAT USES THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT AND JACKSON HOLE HISTORY TO PROVIDE HANDS-ON, REAL-WORLD LEARNING EXPERIENCES TO FOSTER A STRONG CONNECTION TO OUR COMMUNITY. WE AIM TO SERVE AS A RESOURCE FOR LIFELONG LEARNERS BY ENCOURAGING DISCOVERY THROUGH INVESTIGATION, RESEARCH, AND CREATION FOR ALL AGES. THROUGH OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM, STUDENTS FOSTER A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION FOR OUR LOCAL HERITAGE. IN FY2020, THE JHHSM HOSTED YOUTH PROGRAMS WITH OVER 500 STUDENTS AND ADULT PROGRAMS WITH OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS.

MUSEUM: THE JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM OPERATES TWO MUSEUM GALLERIES. THE DELONEY MUSEUM IS OPEN SEASONALLY IN THE SUMMER WITH EXHIBITS DEPICTING THE PREHISTORY AND AMERICAN INDIAN PRESENCE IN THE GREATER YELLOWSTONE AREA. THE CACHE GALLERY IS OPEN YEAR ROUND WITH EXHIBITS FOCUSED ON THE SETTLEMENT ERA AND RECENT HISTORY OF JACKSON HOLE, INCLUDING HOMESTEADING, DUDE RANCHING, TOURISM, CONSERVATION, AND OUTDOOR RECREATION. TEMPORARY EXHIBITS ARE ROTATED INTO EACH SPACE SEASONALLY. IN FY2020, THE JHHSM HOSTED OVER 10,000 VISITORS IN THE MUSEUM GALLERIES.

RESEARCH: THE JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM CARES FOR 7,000 3D OBJECTS, 18,000 HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHS, 8,000 ARCHIVAL DOCUMENTS, 400 ORAL HISTORIES, AND 3,700 LIBRARY RESOURCES. THESE ITEMS ARE MADE ACCESSIBLE IN THE STAN KLASSEN RESEARCH CENTER, WHICH IS OPEN TO RESEARCHERS AND THE PUBLIC BY APPOINTMENT. THE JHHSM WORKED WITH OVER 50 RESEARCHERS AND RESEARCH REQUESTS IN FY2020 AND PROVIDED SATELLITE EXHIBITS AND CONTENT TO OVER 10 LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT TETON COUNTY.
