Organizations Filed Purposes: Charleston Southern University (CSU) is a private, four-year co-educational institution organized under the laws of the state of South Carolina in 1964 as a non-profit organization and sponsored by the South Carolina Baptist Convention. (continued on Schedule O) (Continued from Part III, line 1) The University's mission is to promote academic excellence in a Christian environment.

The University's mission is to promote academic excellence in a Christian environment.

Instruction: For the Academic year, 2019-2020, enrollment was 3,190 undergraduate and graduate students completing traditional, online, and hybrid courses. 753 degrees were conferred during the year, and the total number of full-time professors was 192. We offered 57 undergraduate degrees and 22 graduate degree programs. CSU offers more than 800 courses, and approximately 400 are normally available online. Due to COVID, our faculty quickly pivoted and after Spring Break, all courses were converted to online delivery to complete Spring 2020. Deans, senior administrators, and faculty members are continually in touch with local employers and we continue to develop new programs to increase workforce readiness through internships, even though many of those became virtual learning with COVID continuing to keep employers working remotely. Preliminary work was completed to begin an Aeronautics BS degree and start-up classes for a new Engineering were approved by the Curriculum Committee this year. This year we started construction on a new Engineering building and completed the Physical Therapy addition to the Health Science Building. Academically, we added new online programs since our College of Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS) was ranked 11th in the country by US News and World Report. The quality and demand for these programs is driving an increase in the number of adult online learners.CSU faculty and staff remain involved with Trident United Way Literacy program, the Lowcountry STEM Collaborative, and international companies with a local presence. The School of Education has also partnered with local private high schools to offer dual enrollment to students who are interested in transferring to CSU after they graduate from high school. This year our Teacher Cadet program reported 200 students enrolled, one of the largest programs in the state. Each year the number of both undergraduate and graduate degrees offered increases. The Experiential Learning Initiative (ELI) provides our undergraduate students with opportunities to obtain work experience through an internship program. It is part of our Quality Enhancement Program required by regional accreditation and integrates clinical-based, practicum experience and non-traditional learning opportunities for all undergraduate students. Through the ELI program, CSU has continued to build a network of outside partners in public and private businesses and the students are greatly benefitting from participation in the program, which is now a graduation requirement. We have enhanced the services of our Global Education office by increasing the number of international partnerships with overseas universities. Again, COVID challenges in Spring erased all summer and fall participation in Study Abroad programs this year, but we continue to recruit international students to join us online and in person.CSU was once again named a Yellow Ribbon (military-friendly) school. The College of Nursing continues to lead the state of South Carolina (for 11 years) with the highest percentage of nursing student graduates to pass the national nursing licensing exam (96% in 2019). Our Physician Assistant program graduated it is first class with a PANCE pass rate of 98%. CSU awards institutional, state, NCAA and federal financial aid to a rapidly growing student population representing an increase in numbers and academic quality. Approximately ninety-five percent of the student population receives some type of financial assistance.

Approximately 300 veterans and their dependents were certified to receive government benefits for the 2019-20 academic year. The Student Life Department is comprised of Campus Security, Campus Ministries, Career Center, Counseling Services, Campus Recreation, Residence Life, Student Diversity, and Student Activities. Campus Security provides 24/7 security services for our entire campus. We have over 200 cameras on campus that are monitored 24/7 and an multimodal early alert system to notify our campus community in case of an emergency. Campus Ministries provides spiritual guidance and support for our campus through a variety of means: Chapel services, weekly student-led worship services called Elevate, small group bible studies, and ministry/missions opportunities. The Career Center helps our students line up their passion with their purpose. We train students in best practices to help them secure careers that are meaningful. A variety of testing, workshops, and career fairs help to connect students with future employers. Counseling Services is available to all students at no extra cost. Students are serviced by two LPC's (one holding a PhD in counseling) and several interns. A new, expanded center opened in the Fall 2020 semester and nearly doubled the size of the previous counseling center location. Campus Recreation provides resources for our campus community to stay physically strong and well balanced. A fitness center, gymnasium, weight room, swimming pool, and intramural sports are offered to our CSU family. A new new intramural field complex is being constructed and this state of the art facility should be open in Fall 2021. Residence Life is responsible for assigning rooms and providing services for over 1,000 resident students each major semester. The also provide valuable lessons in conflict mediation, team building, life skills, and service opportunities for students. Student Diversity plays a key role in our campus, especially since our campus has one of the largest minority populations of any private school in the state of S.C. that is not a HBCU. Programming, forums, and cultural celebrations are all a part of this growing and exciting area.Student Activities keeps things moving on campus! With more than 50 clubs and organizations and many Greek Organizations, Student Activities is always busy. We also have 16 community building, campus-wide events each year that we call the "Sweet 16" that helps to make CSU a unique school!

Auxiliary Enterprises: The University residence halls, dining hall, and campus bookstore are the major auxiliary enterprises serving the University community. Our dining hall and Java City are operated and managed by Aramark, and our bookstore is operated and managed by Barnes and Noble. We, also, have a convenient Chick-Fil-A Express and a Wingate by Wyndham hotel on the Charleston Southern University campus. The Wingate offers 97 luxurious, oversized guestrooms, suites with free high-speed wireless internet, 32-inch flat screen HD LCD TV, and more than 2,000 square feet of meeting space to accommodate everything from a 10-person board meeting to a gathering of 1,500 people in Lightsey Chapel Auditorium. For the past 20 years, CSU has been partnering with M-Fuge, the summer service camp sponsored by LifeWay. Approximately 3,000-4,000 middle and high school students from across the SE United States would be hosted on our campus each summer. Beginning Summer 2021, we will begin a new partnership with SummerSalt youth and childrens' camp sponsored by the S.C. Baptist State Convention. We are expecting approximately 3,500-4,000 children and youth from across S.C. to meet on our campus each summer.
