Organizations Filed Purposes: To maintain the health and cleanliness of the Schroon Lake and River for recreational purposes and to education the surrounding public about individual programs that support this cause.

Water tested Schroon Lake. Provided educational programs to the public through electronic newsletters and an active website. Monitored state boat launch from May to October to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) into Schroon Lake and to other lakes in the area. Educated the public on AIS and managed a scouting program to discover areas of eurasian milfoil and leaf curly pondweedfor removal.

From May 1, 2020 to October 12, 2020, The East Shore Schroon Lake Association managed a watercraft inspection station at a State owned boat launch with the job of inspecting all watercraft entering and exiting the south end of Schroon Lake for invasive species such as eurasian milfoil, curly leaf pond weed, zebra mussels, water chestnut, and asian clams. Our station is one of the 3 busiest AIS inspection stations of all watercraft inspection stations in the Adirondack Park as verified by the Adirondack Watershed Institute at Paul Smiths College.

A major component of the organization is education provided to property owners and visitors to the Greater Schroon Lake Area. Education comprises an annual newsletter (voted previously best newsletter by the New York State Federation of Lake Associations), email blasts to members (minipearls), information booths at trade shows and local events(suspended in 2020 due to pandemic), and volunteer and member attendance at virtual conferences to provide information on current issues and to develop skills to preserve Schroon Lake as a recreational resource.
