The mission of ASFTC is to provide training for all Arizona firefighters through the annual State Fire School.
The Arizona State Training Committee annually conducts the Arizona State Fire School. The committee is made up of over 46 volunteer members who donate their time. The school is designed and operated for mostly rural fire departments that do not have the resources to provide the training that is provided at the State Fire School. Over thirty classes are provided to ensure department training needs are met. Historically the school has trained 750 to 850 firefighters from around the State. 2019 was the 46th consecutive year the committee has conducted the State Fire School. In order for the school to remain affordable for the rural communities the committee has pursued alterative funding sources such as grants and has lobbied State Legislators for funding to help offset the cost of the school.
