Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF CHANDLER SERVICE CLUB IS TO SUPPORT THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY WITH FINANCIAL RESOURCES AND SERVICE COMMITMENTS. OUR PROGRAM INITIATIVES FOCUS ON LOW INCOME FAMILIES: FEEDING AND CLOTHING CHILDREN, PROVIDING ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS, AND PROMOTING VOLUNTEERISM.

FLOWER GIRL PROGRAM: THE FLOWER GIRL PROGRAM FULFILLS CHANDLER SERVICE CLUBS MISSION TO MENTOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS AND PROMOTES A LIFELONG COMMITMENT TO HELPING OTHERS THROUGH COMMUNITY SERVICE. IT IS A COMPREHENSIVE 10 MONTH PROGRAM FOR GIRLS IN THEIR SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL WITH CHANDLER SERVICE CLUB MEMBERS SERVING AS COORDINATORS AND MENTORS FOR 21 COMMUNITY SERVICE, EDUCATIONAL, AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. IN ADDITION, EACH FLOWER GIRL INDEPENDENTLY DEVELOPS A COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT AND VOLUNTEERS IN A SETTING OF HER CHOICE. IN 2019-2020, 39 FLOWER GIRLS EACH DEVOTED AN AVERAGE OF 39 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE EQUALING A TOTAL OF 1,521 VOLUNTEER HOURS, VOLUNTEERING IN A VARIETY OF SETTINGS AND WORKING WITH GROUPS SUCH AS AT RISK YOUTH, GERIATRIC RESIDENTS, PEDIATRIC CANCER PATIENTS AND FAMILIES, AND DISABLED CHILDREN.

WEEKENDERS IS CHANDLER SERVICE CLUBS MOST SIGNIFICANT AND TIME INTENSIVE PROGRAM. WORKING DIRECTLY WITH CHANDLER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO IDENTIFY CHILDREN IN NEED, THE CLUB PROVIDES FOOD FOR CHILDREN TO TAKE HOME EACH WEEKEND DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT CHILDREN WHO HAVE HEALTHY WEEKEND DIETS, COME TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY ALERT AND READY TO LEARN, WITH THEIR SELF-ESTEEM AND HEALTH INTACT. THE CLUB PURCHASES FOOD FROM A LOCAL FOOD BANK, PACKS IT IN INDIVIDUAL BAGS AND DELIVERS IT DIRECTLY TO SCHOOL NURSES, WHO THEN DISTRIBUTE THE FOOD TO THE CHILDREN. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED DURING INTERSESSION BREAKS, THESE CHILDREN RECEIVE A $20 GROCERY VOUCHER, ALLOWING THEM TO PURCHASE FOOD FROM A LOCAL GROCER. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.

JEWEL LEWIS AND HELEN PERNELL SCHOLARSHIPS: CSC ADMINISTERS AN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR CHANDLER CITIZENS PURSUING POST-SECONDARY DEGREES AT ARIZONA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. ONE YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO NEW AND RETURNING COLLEGE STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE FINANCIAL NEED, EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES, AND BARRIERS TO ACHIEVING A COLLEGE EDUCATION.
