Orchard: Africa equips the local church to care for the vulnerable. The organization develops programs that include meeting daily needs of food security, sustainable small scale agriculture, health & hygiene, educational, life skills, entrepreneurial and other sustainable and on-going projects with community involvement. Church leaders and churches in the developing world are empowered to implement these programs in order to respond to poverty and injustice and their outworking in local communities.

MINISTRY PROGRAM : Orchard: Africa believes that the Church is the primary channel through which to respond to poverty & injustice in Africa. Through the Ministry Program, Orchard: Africa empowers African church leaders with the skills to provide emotional, physical, and spiritual care to the vulnerable in their community. The Ministry Program provides church leaders with the tools (programs) to actively lead and care for their community, and to restore hope through their churches. At the same time, leaders in the Western church are empowered to respond in sustainable ways to the needs of the African church. To date, 805 leaders are part of the Orchard: Network, and are receiving training in Ministry & Leadership. More than 60 churches are implementing sustainable programs that Orchard: Africa has developed, and 47 of these churches have received funding from Orchard: Africa.
FOOD & AGRICULTURE PROGRAM : Orchard: Africa equips and funds local churches to run daily meal programs for vulnerable children. The organization also equips and empowers churches to develop church gardens and to teach vertical farming methods to congregation members, in order for them to produce food for themselves and thus bring sustainable food security to the community. Orchard: Africa has provided over 10,6 million meals to vulnerable children in Africa. The organization has started 11 active community gardens, has helped over 250 families start farm-in-a-bag projects at their homes and has trained 2,170 individuals in vertical farming. During the Covid-19 lockdown in Southern Africa, 27,271 people were provided with food parcel delivery to their homes.
EDUCATION PROGRAM : Orchard: Africa helps churches to start pre-schools to encourage love of learning from a young age, and to start after school learning programs, which include educational assistance, sport and recreational activities. The organization also assists with basic entrepreneurial and life skills programs, which help school leaving children to develop vocational and income generating skills. 8,702 children have attended pre-schools funded and equipped by Orchard: Africa. After school learning centers have had 1,085,407 visits to date.
