Friday Night Fun Night is an extension of Club D4K and takes place on six successive Friday nights in the spring semester of the FUSD school year. It is funded by local individuals and businesses and is staffed by volunteers. The mentoring program provides help through the youth in attendance who have learned the curriculum in one of the elementary schools.
Club D4K is the pilot program for a three hour after school program and the Life skills program has been instituted into an in-school class. The youth not only experience the training in pro-social skill, core values and healthy lifestyles, but also are in charge of operating the club, thereby learning rules of procedure and finance. It is funded through private donations, the Arizona state income tax credit and upcoming grants. Serves about 100 young people.
D4K serves about 3,000 students in the Flagstaff Unified School (FUSD) elementary schools and one elementary school in Leupp, AZ situated on Native American lands. FUSDs FACTS program is an after-school program contracting with D4K to provide a two-hour program teaching our youth pro-social skills, core values and healthy lifestyle attributes. The curriculum is taught in one elementary school per week during the fall and spring semesters of the FUSD school year.
