FFOTM PRESENTED THE 14TH ANNUAL 3-DAY PICKIN IN THE PINES BLUEGRASS & ACOUSTIC MUSIC FESTIVAL DURING SEPTEMBER 2019. THE FESTIVAL ATTRACTED TOTAL PAID ATTENDANCE OF 3260 ADULTS AND OVER 600 CHILDREN UNDER AGE 15 RECEIVING FREE ADMISSION. MAIN STAGE FEATURED GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING BLUEGRASS & ACOUSTIC MUSIC PERFORMANCES WITH A TOTAL OF 21 NATIONAL, REGIONAL & LOCAL ACTS PERFORMING BLUEGRASS, FOLK & OLD-TIME MUSIC. 24 FREE EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS OFFERED FIDDLE, BASS, GUITAR, BANJO, MANDOLIN, UKULELE & SINGING INSTRUCTION. INFORMAL MUSIC JAMS IN THE CAMPGROUND, CHILDRENS MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS, FAMILY ACTIVITIES AND TRADITIONAL DANCE EVENTS PROMOTED THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION.

OTHER PROGRAMS FFOTM PROVIDES INCLUDE BI-MONTHLY CONTRA DANCES PROMOTING TRADITIONAL MUSIC. LOCAL & REGIONAL DANCE CALLERS TEACH & CALL TRADITIONAL NEW ENGLAND CONTRA DANCES TO LIVE TRADITIONAL MUSIC PERFORMED BY LOCAL & REGIONAL BANDS. DANCES ARE PRECEDED BY 30 MINUTES OF INSTRUCTION TO TEACH EACH INDIVIDUAL DANCE. ATTENDENCE AVERAGES 60 PEOPLE AND INSTRUCTION IS PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES. FFOTM ALSO PRODUCED A MONTHLY PAPER AND DIGITAL NEWLETTER THAT IS PUBLISHED & DELIVERED TO MEMBERS FEATURING STORIES, ARTICLES, ANNOUNCEMENTS, INSTRUCTIONS & A CALENDAR OF EVENTS. THE YOUNG JAMMERS PROGRAM IS FOR YOUTH AGES 9 TO 18 THAT PROVIDES CHILDREN AN OPPORTUNITY TO ACQUIRE & LEARN TO PLAY TRADITIONAL MUSIC ON A DONATED MUSICAL INSTRUMENT. WEEKLY MUSIC JAMS AND SEMI-ANNUAL CAMPOUTS PROVIDE FOR MUSICAL EDUCATION.

FFOTM PRESENTED THE 18TH ANNUAL FLAGSTAFF FOLK FESTIVAL, A 2-DAY EVENT HELD IN JUNE PROVIDING A VENUE FOR OVER 100 LOCAL AND REGIONAL AMATEUR MUSICIANS TO PERFORM ON 5 STAGES. INCLUDED ARE WORKSHOPS AND JAMS PROVIDING LOW COST ($5) ACCESS TO TRADITIONAL MUSIC. APPROXIMATELY 1,000 ATTENDEES INCLUDED SENIORS, ADULTS AND CHILDREN OF ALL AGES. THE FESTIVAL IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT THAT ENCOURAGES ATTENDEES TO BRING A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT ALONG TO JOIN IN THE FUN. THE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES TO AMATEUR MUSICIANS AND EXPOSURE OF A LARGE AUDIENCE TO TRADITIONAL MUSIC CONTRIBUTES TO THE ORGANIZATIONS MISSION TO PRESERVE AND PROMOTE TRADITIONAL MUSIC
