Organizations Filed Purposes:
We are a patriotic wartime veterans service organization devoted to mentoring youth; sponsoring wholesome community programs; advocating patriotism and honor; promoting strong national security; and continued devotion to our fellow veterans.
Post Operations - Operates and maintains post building to house and provide social and recreational activities for our 900+ veteran members and to perform American Legion administrative activities. This service program provides a Cantina, meeting hall, kitchen facility, office space, and storage facilities for the restricted use of our veteran members and their bonafide guests. This facility opens daily (including weekends and holidays) to allow veterans to come for morning coffee, enjoy lunch, or socialize in the evenings. The meeting hall hosts member and American Legion events. Examples include Post Everlasting, Four Chaplains Ceremony, USS Arizona remembrance, holiday ceremonies (e.g. 4th of July, Memorial Day, etc.) as well as member birthday parties, weddings, memorial services, holiday parties, and special events. The hall is also available at no charge to local government, charity, active military organizations and the American Legion Auxiliary for meetings.
Legion Programs - This service supports the four pillars of the American Legion: (I) Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation (VA&R), (II) National Security, (III) Americanism, (IV) Children and Youth (includes community programs). Examples of accomplishments in each of these areas are provided below: (I) VA&R - Service officer assistance to those seeking VA services; emergency funding for active duty and veterans and their family; funding for Honor Flight of AZ ($2700 annually); monthly disabled Vet lunch program; and Giving Tree for Veterans with Christmas presents. (II) National Security - Packages for Troops. (III) Americanism - Flag etiquette for elementary schools and scout troops; flags out on holidays; Color/Honor Guard for flag postings and Military Honors memorial services. (IV) Children and Youth - Annual children's Christmas party giving over $3,500 in gifts to deserving families; Boys State program.
