CHARITY CARE IS SEPARATE AND DISTINCT FROM BAD DEBTS, WHICH ARE ACCOUNTS FOR WHICH CREDIT WAS EXTENDED AND PAYMENT IS ANTICIPATED, BUT NOT RECEIVED. OUR QUALIFYING DISCOUNT PROGRAM IS BASED ON A PERCENTAGE OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL. KRMC HAS UPDATED ITS CHARITY CARE POLICY TO INCLUDE THOSE PATIENTS WHOSE HOUSEHOLD INCOME IS UP TO 400% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL. THIS PROGRAM IS FOR ALL PATIENTS REGARDLESS OF THEIR PRIMARY INSURANCE STATUS AND IS BASED ON THEIR FAMILY SIZE AND INCOME FROM ALL SOURCES.
