Organizations Filed Purposes:
The purpose of a cooperative early education program is to bring parents and children together in a learning environment that supports childrens growth and to provide a community of support in parenting.
The Early Education Cooperative Preschool serves 49 students and offers an early childhood program based on research and best practices in education and child development. Inspired by both the Reggio Emilia approach to learning and The Creative Curriculum, we provide developmental appropriate classrooms which create a community of learners where the students are encouraged to play, explore and research the world around them. We believe that children excel at constructing knowledge when they are given opportunities to learn through unstructured play, using the environment as the third teacher, and the teachers and parents as guides and co-researchers. Fostering a community of families, staff, and students is an important goal of our program and integral to the curriculum and relationships formed. Community is created between the parents, students, and teachers by hosting dinners each year, visiting the children at home during the summer, working together on school clean-up days, providing monthly parent education meetings, and having multiple community events throughout the year.
