TO SERVE AS A LEADER IN THE EFFORTS TO END HOMELESSNESS IN ARIZONA THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, AND COLABORATION WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES, GOVERNMENTS, AND BUSINESSES.
THE ARIZONA HOUSING COALITION IS A COLLABORATIVE ASSOCIATION THAT LEADS IN THE EFFORTS TO END HOMELESSNESS AND ADVOCATE FOR SAFE, AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR ALL ARIZONANS.
EDUCATE THE 2019 ANNUAL CONFERENCE, HOME EQUITY BUILDING OUR COMMUNITY CHEST, BROUGHT HUNDREDS OF HOUSING ADVOCATES TOGETHER TO EXPLORE THE THEME OF EQUITY, BOTH IN HOUSING AND IN SOCIETY. NEARLY 600 ATTENDEES DISCUSSED WHAT IS NECESSARY TO ADDRESS EQUITY ACROSS THE STATE, AND THE WAYS IN WHICH OUR COLLECTIVE WORK CAN ACHIEVE MAXIMUM IMPACT.
ADVOCATE AT THE TAIL END OF THE 2019 STATE LEGISLATIVE SESSION, ARIZONA LAW MAKERS APPROVED ONE OF THE LARGEST BUDGET INCREASES FOR HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS IN NEARLY A DECADE, ALLOCATING A ONE-TIME INVESTMENT OF 15 MILLION FOR THE HOUSING TRUST FUND IN THE STATES 2020 BUDGET. MANY OF OUR MEMBERS MADE IT OUT TO OUR DAY AT THE CAPITOL IN MARCH. WE WERE ABLE TO REGISTER ATTENDEES FOR REQUEST TO SPEAK, LEARN ABOUT UPCOMING LEGISLATION AND HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING RECOGNIZED AS GUESTS WHILE THE LEGISLATURE WAS IN SESSION BY SEN. LELA ALSTON AND REP ATHENA SALMAN. IN ADDITION TO SEN. ALSTON AND REP. SALMAN, WE HAD 13 OTHER LEGISLATORS STOP IN TO SAY HELLO OR CONDUCT MEETINGS WITH US. AT OUR STATEWIDE CONFERENCE, WE ASKED ATTENDEES TO SEND ADVOCACY POSTCARDS TO SEN. MCSALLY, ASKING HER TO JOIN SEN. SINEMA IN CO-SPONSORING THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CREDIT IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 2019. THANKS TO OUR UNIFIED ADVOCACY, ARIZONAS SENATE DELEGATION NOW FULLY SUPPORTS AFFORDABLE HOUSING EXPANSION.
COLLABORATE THE 2020 MARICOPA COUNTY STANDDOWN WAS A HUGE SUCCESS WITH ROUGHLY 2,000 VETERANS IN ATTENDANCE, AND NEARLY 1,000 VOLUNTEERS, WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE 750 VETERANS WITH MVD SERVICES, 1,769 DENTAL SERVICES, WALK THROUGH VA VETERAN SERVICES WITH 390 ATTENDEES AND SO MUCH MORE
