Organizations Filed Purposes: THE ORGANIZATION IMPROVES LITERACY IN ARIZONA THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE, RESEARCH-BASED SCREENINGS, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH LANGUAGE-BASED LEARNING DISORDERS AND AUDITORY PROCESSING DISORDERS. WE PROVIDE TRAINING TO PROFESSIONALS, AND PROMOTE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY LITERACY.

TO PROVIDE EVALUATION AND TREATMENT FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES.

YOUTH AND ADULT SERVICES: IT IS WHEN CHILDREN ENTER SCHOOL THAT DIFFICULTIES LEARNING THE FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS FOR READING ARE OFTEN IDENTIFIED. IN THE CASE OF CHILDREN WITH LANGUAGE-BASED LEARNING DIFFERENCES, THESE SKILLS MUST BE EXPLICITLY TAUGHT IN A MANNER THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE TYPICAL CLASSROOM. THE CENTER'S TRAINED AND CREDENTIALED PROFESSIONAL TEAM PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT FOR CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES SUCH AS DYSLEXIA AND AUDITORY PROCESSING DISORDERS. BY IDENTIFYING LEARNING DIFFICULTIES AND STRENGTHS IT IS POSSIBLE TO CUSTOMIZE AN EFFECTIVE INTERVENTION PROGRAM WHICH ALLOWS THE CHILD TO BREAK THE READING CODE AND REACH THEIR POTENTIAL. THE CENTER OFFERS ACADEMIC INTERVENTION SERVICES GIVEN BY WELL TRAINED, CERTIFIED TEACHERS TO HELP CHILDREN LEARN TO READ. OUR PROFESSIONALS OFFER COMMUNITY AWARENESS TRAININGS TO PARENTING GROUPS, AND TRAIN TEACHERS ON RECOGNIZING AND WORKING WITH CHILDREN WITH DYSLEXIA AND AUDITORY PROCESSING DISORDERS. WE ALSO OFFER FREE SCREENINGS AT PHOENIX PUBLIC LIBRARIES TO FIND CHILDREN WITH SIGNS OF READING AND WRITING DIFFICULTIES. BY MAKING CHANGES IN THE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE ONE CAN TRULY CHANGE A LIFE.AS STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES REACH MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVELS, THEIR STRATEGIES FOR SUCCEEDING IN SCHOOL MAY BEGIN TO FAIL. SIMPLE ACCOMMODATIONS TO ENABLE ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. BY PROVIDING EVALUATIONS TO THIS POPULATION AND IDENTIFYING STRENGTHS AND NEEDS (SUCH AS ADDITIONAL TIME, ORAL RESPONSES ON TESTS, WRITTEN MATERIAL AVAILABLE ON RECORDINGS), THESE STUDENTS CAN CONTINUE TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL, COLLEGE AND LIFE. THE CENTER PROVIDES SUCH EVALUATIONS AND RECOMMENDS ACCOMMODATIONS TO ENSURE THIS SUCCESS.

EARLY CHILDHOOD INITIATIVES: OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INITIATIVES CONSISTS OF DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING FOR CHILDREN AGES THREE THROUGH SIX. SCREENINGS ARE DESIGNED TO IDENTIFY CHILDREN WHO NEED A MORE INTENSIVE ASSESSMENT OR DIAGNOSIS OF DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS WHICH ALLOWS FOR EARLIER IDENTIFICATION OF DELAYS AND IMPROVES HEALTH AND WELL-BEING FOR THESE CHILDREN. SCREENING PROVIDES PARENTS AND/OR TEACHERS WITH INFORMATION ON WHETHER A CHILD'S DEVELOPMENT IS COMPARABLE TO CHILDREN OF THE SAME AGE. WE SCREEN CHILDREN IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: VISION, HEARING, MOTOR, LANGUAGE/ARTICULATION, CONCEPTS, SELF-HELP, SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND LITERACY. WHEN DELAYS ARE IDENTIFIED EARLY, APPROPRIATE INTERVENTION CAN TAKE PLACE TO ENSURE THE CHILD'S SUCCESS.OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PARENT WORKSHOPS PROVIDE EDUCATION REGARDING CHILDREN'S DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES, RECOGNITION AND RESPONSE IMPLEMENTATION AND INTERVENTION ACTIVITIES.
