THE ORGANIZATION SERVED 156 RESIDENTS: 31% UNDER 18, 49% AGED 18-61, 18% AGED 62-80 AND 2% AGED 81-95. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING DECENT, SAFE AND SANITARY AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, THIS PROJECT EMPLOYS A FULL-TIME SERVICE COORDINATOR. THE SERVICE COORDINATOR IS A VALUABLE RESOURCE PERSON WHO ASSISTED YOUTH AND ADULT RESIDENTS IN THE PROJECT'S NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK (COMPUTER) CENTER. THE SERVICE COORDINATOR ASSISTED CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH HOMEWORK HELP, COMPUTER CLASSES, TUTOR/MENTORING, LIFE-SKILLS, INTERVENTION PROGRAMS AND VOLUNTEER AND SCHOLARSHIP (CONT'D ON SCH O) OPPORTUNITIES. THE ADULT RESIDENTS BENEFITED BY: ADVOCACY, CASE MANAGEMENT, CONTINUING EDUCATION, COMPUTER CLASSES, JOB SEARCH/RESUME WRITING/INTERVIEWING HELP, PARENTING CLASSES, COUNSELING, EMERGENCY FOOD/UTILITIES/RENTAL ASSISTANCE, APPLICATION/BENEFITS ASSISTANCE, SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING, AND INSURANCE/HEALTHCARE REFERRALS. HOWEVER, WITH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE COMPUTER CENTER HAD TO BE CLOSED TO FOLLOW CDC GUIDELINES AND THE SERVICE COORDINATOR REMAINED AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE TO THE RESIDENTS OVER THE PHONE. DURING THIS TIME OF QUARANTINE AND SELF-ISOLATION, THE SERVICE COORDINATOR WAS ABLE TO ASSIST RESIDENTS WITH SERVICES, SUCH AS: EMERGENCY FOOD AND MONTHLY FOOD PROGRAMS, CHILD SUPPORT PAPERWORK, LIVING WILL PREPARATION, INTERPRET MAIL AND HEALTH DOCUMENTS, WELFARE CHECKS ON RESIDENTS, REFER ELDERLY RESIDENTS TO VARIOUS ELDER SERVICES, PROVIDE FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN BOOKS AND RESOURCES FOR ONLINE LEARNING, CRISIS INTERVENTION, YOUNG PARENT SUPPORT/PARENTING SKILLS, ETC. THE SERVICE COORDINATOR PUBLISHES A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER WITH MANY APPROPRIATE RESOURCES FOR RESIDENT SELF-REFERRALS, INCLUDING FOOD PROGRAMS AND JOB FAIRS. ONCE COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED, THE STAFF LOOKS FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO SCHEDULE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AGAIN, INCLUDING MONTHLY BIRTHDAY PARTIES, WELLNESS EVENTS, HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS, CRIME-FREE SOCIAL EVENTS, MOVIES AND BINGO/GAME NIGHTS.
