PROMOTING AND FACILITATING QUALITY HEALTHCARE SERVICES WITH SPECIAL CONCERN FOR THE VALUES UPHELD IN CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING, ESPECIALLY THE PREFERENTIAL OPTION FOR THE POOR AND FOR PERSONS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.
MEDICAID/MEDICARE SERVICES MERCY CARE PROVIDES MEDICAL COVERAGE, UNDER VARIOUS CONTRACTS WITH THE ARIZONA HEALTH CARE COST CONTAINMENT SYSTEM (AHCCCS), FOR THE STATE'S INDIGENT POPULATION. MERCY CARE PROVIDES BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL COVERAGE FOR THE ACC MEMBERS ELIGIBLE UNDER TITLE XIX MEDICAID PROGRAM AND TITLE XXI PROGRAM, INSTITUTIONAL CARE AND HOME AND COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES FOR THE LONG TERM CARE MEMBERS, AND MEDICAL COVERAGE FOR THE ELIGIBLE MEMBERS OF THE DIVISION OF DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED. MERCY CARE OPERATES A MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN UNDER THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES (CMS), OFFERING MEDICAL AND PRESCRIPTION DRUG BENEFITS TO QUALIFIED MEMBERS. IT IS OPERATED AS A SPECIAL NEEDS PLAN FOR MEMBERS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR BOTH MEDICARE AND MEDICAID COVERAGE. MERCY CARE PROVIDES PHYSICAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES ON AN INTEGRATED BASIS TO MEDICAID ELIGIBLE ADULTS WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS, AND TO OPERATE AS THE REGIONAL BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AUTHORITY (RBHA) TO COORDINATE THE DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES TO ELIGIBLE PERSONS IN MARICOPA COUNTY. THE ORGANIZATION HAS A WIDE NETWORK OF COMMUNITY PROVIDERS THAT SERVE ITS MEMBERS AND GIVE THEM THE SUPPORT THEY NEED TO REACH THEIR RECOVERY GOALS.
THE ARIZONA CENTER FOR TRANSFORMATIVE HEALTHCARE (A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN ARIZONA HEALTH-E CONNECTION AND MERCY CARE) RECEIVED FUNDING TO PROVIDE HANDS-ON PRACTICE TRANSFORMATION ASSISTANCE WHICH INCLUDES PROVIDING DEDICATED COACHES TO HELP PRACTICES BETTER MANAGE CHRONIC DISEASE AND OFFER PREVENTIVE CARE; OFFER REAL-TIME NOTIFICATION ALERTS FOR CLINICIANS CARING FOR HIGH-RISK MEMBERS; IMPROVE SCREENING AND TREATMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE ACROSS MULTIPLE CARE SETTINGS; CENTRALIZE DATA REPORTING AND PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WITH QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TARGETS AND MID-COURSE CORRECTIONS; AND PROMOTE PATIENT, PROVIDER AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT THROUGH ADVISORY BOARDS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WITHIN A LEARNING COLLABORATIVE.
COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT PROGRAM - IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AHCCCS CONTRACT, MERCY CARE HAS APPROVED A COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT PROGRAM. UNDER THE PROGRAM, MERCY CARE WILL DEMONSTRATE A COMMITMENT TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN WHICH IT OPERATES THROUGH COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT ACTIVITIES INCLUDING CONTRIBUTING 6% OF ITS ANNUAL PROFITS FOR ACC, ALTCS, AND RBHA TO COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT. THE PROGRAM FUNDS COMMUNITY PROJECTS THAT ENHANCE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITIES IN MERCY CARE'S GEOGRAPHIC SERVICE AREA. THESE FUNDS ARE FOR PROJECTS AND SERVICES NOT ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICE OR PREVENTION DOLLARS. FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2019, MERCY CARE APPROVED AMOUNTS THAT RESULTED IN GRANTS TO PROVIDERS OF APPROXIMATELY $1,354,680, TO BE SPENT ON VARIOUS HEALTHCARE COMMUNITY PROJECTS.
