Organizations Filed Purposes: THE ORGANIZATION IS DEDICATED TO THE MUTUAL ASSISTANCE OF ITS MEMBERS IN STRIVING FOR THE BETTER REGULATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TO PROTECT THE HEALTH, WELFARE, AND SAFETY OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

NASCLA PROMOTES BEST PRACTICES AND LICENSE UNIFORMITY FOR AGENCIES THAT REGULATE THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.

NATIONAL EXAMINATION PROGRAM: THE NASCLA ACCREDITED EXAM IS USED BY STATE LICENSING AGENCIES TO TEST CONTRACTOR CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR A GENERAL CONTRACTOR LICENSE. THE EXAM WAS DESIGNED TO REDUCE REDUNDANT LICENSING REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIST CONTRACTORS WANTING TO BE LICENSED IN MULTIPLE JURISDICTIONS. THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE CONTRACTORS LICENSING AGENCIES (NASCLA) IS CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING THREE NEW ACCREDITED EXAMINATIONS THAT WILL BE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FOR AN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR (MASTER ELECTRICIAN/UNLIMITED ELECTRICIAN), A JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN, AND A RESIDENTIAL ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR LICENSING TRADE EXAMINATION. ONCE A CANDIDATE PASSES ONE OF THESE EXAMINATIONS FOR THEIR LEVEL OF EXPERTISE, HE/SHE WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO PASS ANOTHER COMPARABLE EXAMINATION IN ANY OF THE STATES THAT ADOPT THE EXAMINATION.

THE ORGANIZATION PUBLISHES AND SELLS A VARIETY OF PUBLICATIONS DESIGNED TO IMPROVE PUBLIC SAFETY AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. THE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT LAWS, REGULATIONS AND CONCEPTS COVERED IN STATE CONTRACTOR LICENSING EXAMS. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION PREPARES PUBLICATIONS THAT IDENTIFY THE STATE AGENCIES THAT ARE INVOLVED IN THE REGULATION OF THE CONTRUCTION INDUSTRY, AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF CONSUMER PROTECTION PAMPHLETS TO ASSIST MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC IN MAKING INFORMED DECISIONS ABOUT HIRING QUALITY CONTRACTORS. FINALLY, THE ORGANIZATION SELLS PUBLICATIONS CONTAINING INFORMATION USEFUL TO CONTRACTING FIELD SUCH AS STATE AND LOCAL BUILDING CODES.

NASCLA ANNUAL CONFERENCE: THIS CONFERENCE, HELD ONCE ANNUALLY, IS OPEN TO ANYONE INVOLVED IN THE REGULATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. IT OFFERS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS AND COLLEAGUES TO COME TOGETHER AND DISCUSS CURRENT ISSUES RELEVANT TO CONTRACTOR REGULATION. IT ALSO PROVIDES A FORUM FOR PARTICIPANTS TO INTERACT AND EXCHANGE INFORMATION ON LICENSING AGENCIES THROUGH ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS. A VARIETY OF SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS AND CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS ARE OFFERED TO ATTENDEES.
