Organizations Filed Purposes:
To end health disparities faced by those made vulnerable by drug use and other high-risk behaviors in Arizona through harm reduction forced education, advocacy, and evidence-based programming.
Distributed overdose prevention kits reaching every Arizona county. 2839 lives were saved as a result of SPW's overdose prevention work. This includes offering peer support in the following six counties:Yuma,Gila, Pima, Maricopa, Yavapai and Mohave. We also began a new project to focus more overdose and harm reduction in Gila, Graham and Mohave counties. We provided 17,500 referrals provided peer support to 1,202 people reaching 14,500 individuals.
SPW engaged and trained individuals to educate lawmakers about syringe services programs and other evidence-based interventions that support harm reduction.
SPW employed a full-time tribal overdose prevention coordinator to focus on overdose and naloxone distribution in tribal communities of northern Arizona. SPW also partnered with many collaborators in Kingman to set up a 15 hour per week outreach site.
