FOUNDED IN SCOTTSDALE, AZ IN 1973, STARS PROVIDES RESOURCES AND TRAINING TO ADULTS AND TEENS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL AND COGNITIVE DISABILITIES, SUPPORTING INDIVIDUAL CHOICE TOWARD ACHIEVEMENT OF PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE.
Community based supported employment and job placement services provided 5 individuals with help to find jobs and adjust to employment in the community. The community based program provided remunerative employment and vocational training to 38 individuals in our community based enclaves. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the contracts/agreements under the community based enclaves were discontinued for the health & safety of STARS participants, just before fiscal year-end.
The Day Training program provided 92 individuals with opportunities to maintain engaged and connected through digital learning cohorts, participating in social & skill-training sessions, emphasizing personal involvement to create healthy, lasting relationships with others. Services are provided to children and young adults age 8-22 years in the youth program and adults age 22 years and up. STARS actively follows CDC health guidelines, social distancing protocols, and monitors COVID levels in its community. To ensure participant safety, STARS has had to reduce the number of individuals in day training or postpone programs (at various times), depending on the status of the ongoing pandemic.
Facility based services provided remunerative employment and vocational training to 111 different individuals in the facility's employment work center. STARS actively follows CDC health guidelines, social distancing protocols, and monitors COVID levels in its community. To ensure participant safety, STARS has had to reduce the number of individuals in the work center or postpone activities (at various times), depending on the status of the ongoing pandemic.
