Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide youth opportunities to explore the natural world, giving them outdoor experiences that will sustain and enrich their physical and mental well-being throughout their lives.
On May 1, Tonto Creek Camp entered in to a lease/purchase agreement with the Valley of the Sun YMCA on Chauncey Ranch and is located in Mayer, Arizona. Chauncey Ranch has in the past and will continue into the future operate as a camp/ranch/farm. It is on 5,000 acres of leased and fee owned land. Also, Tonto Creek Camp began to bring it outdoor stem education directly to schools through it Mobile STEM Discovery Lab. During 2019, between these various learning platforms Tonto Creek Camp increased its service to groups, particularly school and community nonprofit groups. Tonto Creek Camp provided programs and services to 11,000 campers, students and teachers. Over 160 groups were served including students attending Arizonas public schools and universities, and groups including athletic organizations, school bands, church groups, and recovery groups. In fulfilling its educational and leadership purposes, the organization has three key initiatives: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Seed (Students Engaged in Entrepreneurial Development) and SOIL (Students Optimizing Integrity and Leadership). Tonto Creek Camps STEM initiative for Outdoor Science Centered Education for the school year 2018-2019 will serve over 75 schools and over 4,250 students.
