Organizations Filed Purposes:
Friends Peace Teams is a Spirit-led organization working around the world to develop long-term relationships with communities in conflict to create programs for peace building, healing, and reconciliation based on extensive Quaker experience.
AGLI: Is still doing peace work in Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The global pandemic has had a great impact on the lives of all these peoples. Rwanda received a grant to plant 8,000 fruit trees. HROC continues workshops to train teachers to help pupils prevent violence at school and home. Kenya - Basic HROC workshops has helped to build community capacity to respond to wide-spread trauma and to strengthen resilience during this difficult time of the pandemic. In Burundi 25 university students met to build a national platform/network using the HROC program to respond to the trauma consequences that many in Burundi live with. DRC, AVP workshops are conducted for communities in North Kivu and South Kivu. HROC workshops are held for various people in the remote areas.
AWP: Continues to host International Peace Training in Indonesia with participants from several countries. AWP develops training and materials for facilitators of Creating Cultures of Peace and of Power of Goodness who are engaged in actions for peace and justice.
PLA: Destruction from Hurricane Eta and Iota in La Ceiba, Honduras affected more than six million people. This was in addition to the challenges that the Covid, hunger and domestic violence pandemics have already brought this year. The people are responding with resiliency and optimism to the suffering around them. They are reaching out those communities in greatest needs that are not helped by the government or large relief organizations. Peace Baskets filled with basic foodstuffs and hygiene items have been delivered.
