Organizations Filed Purposes:
Save Our Schools AZ is a nonpartisan, community-based organization founded to promote, advocate for, and educate the public about the value of an adequately resourced, equitable, and transparent education system throughout Arizona, per Article XI, Sec 1(A) of the AZ constitution.
SOSAZ advocated for increasing public school funding and fought against attempts to drain funding from public schools. Work consisted of lobbying, meeting with legislators, attending legislative committee meetings, and organizing others from an active, statewide volunteer network to do the same. SOSAZ issued frequent legislative updates to the volunteer network, and kept followers informed of legislative activities through emails, social media, and meetings.
Presentations given by SOSAZ volunteers have provided data-drived, research-backed, non-partisan information to a variety of audiences, including community groups, legislative district organizations from all political affiliations, conferences, neighborhood gatherings, teacher and parent associations, school administrators, social clubs, retirement communities, and others. Dozens of presentations have occurred in locales from living rooms to lecture halls across the state.
