ARIZONA YOUTH PARTNERSHIP (AZYP) BUILDS SOLID FOUNDATIONS FOR YOUTH AND FAMILIES BY PARTNERING WITH ARIZONA COMMUNITIES TO PREVENT AND SOLVE LOCAL ISSUES.

ARIZONA YOUTH PARTNERSHIP (AZYP) WAS FOUNDED IN 1990 BY A GROUP OF CONCERNED PIMA COUNTY CITIZENS WHO SOUGHT TO PROVIDE RURAL COMMUNITIES IN THE COUNTY ACCESS TO THE SERVICES AVAILABLE IN THE TUCSON METRO AREA. IN 2006, AZYP EXPANDED TO SERVE RURAL AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES ACROSS ARIZONA AND SEEKS TO EMPLOY A ROOT CAUSE APPROACH TO FIGHT POVERTY BY BUILDING HEALTHY, SELF-SUFFICIENT YOUTH AND FAMILIES THROUGH EVIDENCE-BASED PREVENTION PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT THAT UTILIZE A THREE-PRONGED APPROACHTO ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION:-CULTIVATING HEALTHY FOUNDATIONS FOR YOUTH: AZYP OFFERS EVIDENCE-BASED RELATIONSHIP EDUCATION TO 3,056 YOUTH, SUMMER PROGRAMS TO 160 YOUTH, AFTERSCHOOL TO 168 YOUTH, 210 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN LOVING MY FUTURE, 120 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN BOTVIN LIFESKILLS, WAKE UP PROGRAM FOR 187 YOUTH, AND 256 YOUTH ATTENDED THE TEEN OUTREACH PROGRAM. STARTING OUT RIGHT PROGRAM FOR PREGNANT AND PARENTING YOUTH SUPPORTED 103 PREGNANT AND PARENTING YOUTH. THIS YEAR, AZYP EXPANDED SERVICES TO PREGNANT AND PARENTING YOUTH TO SERVE HOMELESS PREGNANT AND PARENTING YOUTH. AZYP SERVED 14 SCHOOL DISTRICTS ACROSS NINE COUNTIES IN ARIZONA AND SERVED OVER 6,000 YOUTH THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS. AZYP ALSO SERVED 89 YOUTH IN OUR SHELTERS (KINGMAN, BULLHEAD CITY, PRESCOTT VALLEY) WHICH SERVES HOMELESS AND RUNAWAY YOUTH. -PROMOTING STRONG FAMILIES: AZYP FAMILY PROGRAMS OFFER PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE, STRATEGIES AND TOOLS TO BUILD AND SUSTAIN HEALTHY MARRIAGES, PARENTING, AND ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THIS PAST YEAR, 71 YOUTH AND 92 ADULTS ACROSS ARIZONA COMPLETED AN 8-WEEK, STRENGTHENING FAMILIES PARENT & FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAM THAT FOCUSES ON BUILDING FAMILY COMMUNICATION; 203 PARENTS LEARNED EFFECTIVE PARENTING SKILLS. -MOBILIZING COMMUNITIES THROUGH COALITIONS: AZYP ASSISTS 11 COMMUNITY COALITIONS WITH RESOURCES THAT FACILITATE COMMUNITY-WIDE CHANGE FOCUSED ON PREVENTION OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND UNDERAGE DRINKING. COMMUNITIY MEMBERS RECEIVED RX360 EDUCATION ABOUT PRESCRIPTION DRUG USE, AND YOUTH ATTEND TEEN MAZES TO LEARN THE CONSEQUENCES OF UNDERAGE DRINKING. 255 COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE TRAINED IN YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID.
