FOX TUCSON THEATRE FOUNDATION WAS ORGANIZED TO RESTORE, RENOVATE AND OPERATE THE HISTORIC FOX TUCSON THEATRE; TO PROVIDE A VENUE FOR ART AND CULTURAL EVENTS; AND TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON FILM, PERFORMANCE, AND VISUAL ARTS, AS WELL AS CULTURAL AND ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY. FOLLOWING THE RESTORATION OF THE HISTORIC THEATRE, FOX PRESENTS! LLC, WHOLLY-OWNED BY FOX TUCSON THEATRE FOUNDATION, OPERATES THE RENOVATED THEATRE, INCLUDING TICKET AND CONCESSION SALES, MARKETING AND PROMOTION, AS WELL AS BOOKING TALENT, FILM AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2019, 92,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED 178 EVENTS AND PROGRAMS AT THE HISTORIC THEATRE.
THE THEATRE WAS PAINSTAKINGLY RESTORED AND RE-OPENED ON DECEMBER 31, 2005 AS A STATE OF THE ART FACILITY. THE FOX TUCSON THEATRE FOUNDATION NOW MAINTAINS THIS ELEGANT AND SOPHISTICATED PERFORMING ARTS VENUE AND MULTI-PURPOSE COMMUNITY CENTER. THE FOX IS ONE OF A DWINDLING NUMBER OF HISTORIC THEATRES STILL IN EXISTENCE IN THE UNITED STATES AND IS THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF ITS KIND IN ARIZONA. IT IS SOUTHERN ARIZONA'S ONLY REMAINING "MOVIE PALACE". IN LIGHT OF THIS EXCEPTIONAL STATUS, IT HAS BEEN DESIGNATED AS A NATIONALLY SIGNIFICANT BUILDING ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. WITH A SEATING CAPACITY OF 1,164, THE FOX BLENDS SOUTHWESTERN ART DECO WITH MAYAN, EGYPTIAN, AND NATIVE AMERICAN-INSPIRED DECORATIVE ELEMENTS. THE FOX TUCSON THEATRE IS KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE U.S. FOR ITS PHYSICAL BEAUTY AND NEAR PERFECT ACOUSTICS.
