Interfaith Community Services (ICS) helps people in need achieve stable, healthy, and independent lives.
Emergency Assistance Since 1985, ICS has provided financial assistance, short-term case management, and other support for individuals or families in emergency situations. The goal is to provide for acute basic needs that help clients in distress get back on their feet and take steps toward stability and independence. The types of assistance include: rent and shelter to prevent homelessness, utilities, food and gas vouchers, and back-to-work expenses such as permits, ID's and clothing vouchers. During 2019-20, ICS served 2,834 households providing $1,280,743 in financial assistance. ICS partners with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona to distribute emergency food boxes each month to low-income seniors, individuals and families in need. During 2019-20, ICS distributed $4.8 million worth of food.
Senior & Caregiving Services Since 1985, ICS has provided services which help seniors and disabled individuals to live independently in their own homes, without the need for institutional care. Volunteers provide services such as fresh nutritious meals, transportation for medical appointments and shopping, friendly phoning, friendly visiting, small home repairs, and business help. During 2019-20, ICS provided services to 939 seniors and disabled individuals. The Mobile Meals program provides delivery of fresh nutritious meals each weekday to elderly, physically challenged or convalescing adults who are unable to cook for themselves. Mobile Meals are provided on a sliding-scale-fee basis based on ability to pay. More than 60% of Mobile Meals recipients receive fully or partially subsidized meals. ICS served 27,155 meals during the year.
Self-Sufficiency Program ICS Single Mom Scholars and programs assist clients in their goal of self-sufficiency. Single Mom Scholars program assists low-income single mom college students while the mother pursues a college education and financial independence. The Workforce Development Centers assist clients in their self-sufficiency goals through services, financial literacy, and professional development. During 2019-20, 37 single mom scholars received assistance, 227 clients were assisted with their job search, and 41 clients reported finding a job.
