LEAD GUITAR ESTABLISHES PERMANENT CLASSICAL GUITAR CLASSES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS WITH LOW ACCESS TO THE ARTS. OUR TOP OF THE LINE INSTRUCTORS USE OUR FIELD TESTED CURRICULUM TO TEACH STUDENTS TO PLAY AND TRAIN TEAHERS TO TEACH CLASSICAL GUITAR, ENSURING THE QUALITY AND SUSTAINABLITY OF THE PROGRAM. tHROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR, OUR MASTER INSTRUCTOR VISITS THE SCHOOL'S CERTIFIED MUSIC TEACHER TO CO-TEACH A GUITAR CLASS WHILE THE TEACHER REINFORCES THE CONCEPTS FOR THE CLASS ON THE OTHER DAYS OF THE WEEK. STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO PERFORMANCES AND MATINEES AT A LOCAL UNIVERSITY AS WELL AS IN-SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES FROM TOURING GUEST ARTISTS. TEACHERS RECEIVE EIGHT HOURS OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CREDITS AT OUR ANNUAL TEACHERS' WORKSHOP.
LEAD GUITAR ESTABLISHES PERMANENT CLASSICAL GUITAR CLASSES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS WITH LOW ACCESS TO THE ARTS
Weekly In-School Instruction - In the 2019-20 academic year the Organization served 64 schools in 5 states, teaching 3,380 students to play guitar and 71 public school teachers to teach guitar. Furthermore, Lead Guitar served circa 5000 youth and adults through assemblies and guest artist concerts.
Annual Lead Guitar Showcase Concerts - Lead Guitar would have hosted 7 Spring Showcase concerts in May 2020 but all of them were cancelled due to state and local shut-downs during Covid-19. Our Executive and instructor teams rallied to create a slew of instructional videos on our YouTube channel to facilitate at home learning.We also produced two Virtual Showcase concerts in partnership with a donor GSI Found.and partner Cordoba Music Group, in which students were able to ask questions of high profile guest artists and play along to arrangements featuring those artists in online mass gitar ensembles. These videos have received thousands of views and spurred addtional donation to support our work.
Annual Lead Guitar Teachers' Workshops for K-12 Teacher Professional Development Lead Guitar provided 14 hours of prpfessional development sessions for 21 certified public schools teachers in Chicago, Aspen, CP and Enid OK. These hours can often be used towards a teacher's recertification or promotion. We had planned to host our annual end of year teachers' workshop. Due to Covid-19 we hosted this workshop for the first time as an online webinar for teachers in all five of our service ares. We served 33 teachers and utilized the talents of every staff member to either teach a portion oth the oerkshop of provice up to 90 minutes of private lessons per attendee.
