Organizations Filed Purposes:
MOCA Tucson inspires new ways of thinking through the cultivation, exhibition, and interpretation of contemporary art. This is accomplished with exhibitions, research, public education programs, and artist in residence programs.
In 2019 MOCA Tucson served 8,265 visitors to the museum, and 3,500 youth through on-site and in-school art education programs. MOCA Tucson launched the following contemporary art exhibitions in 2019: -Dazzled: Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), Peter Saville, Peter Shire, Carrie Schneider, Memphis, Miho Shimizu, Natalie Lanese -Groping in the Dark: Epicurean Endocrinology, Liz Flyntz, Byron Flyntz, Ryan Griffis, Sarah Ross, Mary Maggic, Jumana Manna, J. Eric Simpson, Caleb Lightfoot, SPURSE -Ali Silverstien: The fantastical Reconstruction of the Epine GY7 Chapter 1: The Fragments -Caroline Wells Chandler: Close Encounters -Lilly McElory: So Long-Rachel Frank: Thresholds
Youth education programs, including after-school and in-school arts and education, as well as full curriculum of summer camps themed around contemporary art concepts, served more than 3,500 youth. Started serving 55+ community with programs at Armory Park Senior Center.
The museum welcomed eight artists-in-residences to create live on site. Hosted one curator-in-residence who developed the "Groping in the Dark" exhibition.
