The mission of the Land Trust is to promote the preservation, improvement, protection, and conservation of natural resources for the benefit of the community.
Wintonbury Land Trust continued rehabilitation of a historic potato barn on its 12-acre Thrall Farm property in Windsor, CT in 2019, finishing replacement of the north side of the roof. We made an initial payment of $6,000 in 2018, and expended $13,380 in spring of 2019. Remaining exterior work includes rebuilding the barn's cupola.
Wintonbury Land Trust spent $7,769 in 2019 on general property stewardship. $3,950 was for mowing fields, pastures, meadow, and paths on four of our properties. An additional $2,000 was the first payment for removal of a barbed wire fence that posed a hazard on a property boundary of our Van Otterloo preserve. The remainder was spent for electricity for Hawk Hill Barn, Hawk Hill barn cleanup expenses (e.g. dumpster rental), and other small miscellaneous expenses.
