Organizations Filed Purposes: TO INCREASE INVOLVEMENT OF THE GREATER BRIDGEPORT COMMUNITY IN THE BRIDGEPORT PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM; TO ORGANIZE AND SOLICIT FINANCIAL AND OTHER SUPPORT FOR THE BRIDGEPORT PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM; TO ACT AS A CATALYST FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW PROGRAMS AND NEW APPROACHES TO TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR THE BRIDGEPORT PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM; TO ENCOURAGE BRIDGEPORT EDUCATORS TO BE CREATIVE, INNOVATIVE, AND EFFECTIVE, AND TO RECOGNIZE THEM FOR SUCH ACHIEVEMENTS; TO STRENGTHEN PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATIONAL PROCESS; TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNICATION BETWEEN EDUCATIONAL, CIVIC, AND BUSINESS CONSTITUENCIES AND TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF EXCELLENCE WITHIN THE BRIDGEPORT PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM AS WELL AS THE CHALLENGES FACED BY URBAN EDUCATION AND THEIR PLACE IN THE GREATER BRIDGEPORT COMMUNITY; TO BRING INFORMATION TO THE GREATER BRIDGEPORT COMMUNITY REGARDING CURRENT EDUCATIONAL THOUGHT IN THE UNITED STATES AND TO PROMOTE CHANGE IN THE BRIDGEPORT SCHOOLS.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS- FIRST DAY - A READING ENRICHMENT PROGRAM THAT ENCOURAGES READING SKILLS BY GIVING EACH FIRST GRADE STUDENT A NEW BOOK ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, AND INTRODUCES HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEERS TO BRIDGEPORT CLASSROOMS. ALL FIRST GRADE STUDENTS IN THE BRIDGEPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NEW BEGINNINGS CHARTER SCHOOL, THE 2 REGIONAL MAGNET SCHOOLS PARTICIPATE IN FIRST DAY. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: EDUCATION FORUMS TO BRING INFORMATION TO OUR COMMUNITY AND FACILITATE COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS TO ENABLE OUR COMMUNITY TO DISCUSS ISSUES, DEVELOP SOLUTIONS, AND IMPLEMENT THEIR IDEAS. INSPIRATION EVENT: AN ANNUAL EVENT TO RECOGNIZE AND REWARD EXCELLENT EDUCATORS IN THE BRIDGEPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

MENTORING FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND COLLEGE SUCCESS- IS A COLLEGE ACCESS PROGRAM THAT PAIRS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH COLLEGE STUDENT MENTORS. THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIDGEPORT, AND SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY. STUDENTS WHO ARE IN MAACS FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS AND ATTEND THE COLLEGE READINESS WORKSHOP IN THEIR SENIOR YEAR ARE THEN ENROLLED IN THE COLLEGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CAP) WHICH WILL GIVE THEM SUPPORT: FINANCIAL, ACADEMIC,AND EMOTIONAL, ALL THROUGH COLLEGE.
