Organizations Filed Purposes:
This corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of monetary and educational material distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. More Than Walking Incorporated's specific purpose is to provide therapeutic and peer mentor guidance to assist persons with spinal cord injuries to successfully reintegrate into their communities. To accomplish this, the Corporation will engage in the film production and distribution of independence skills demonstrations by spinal cord injured persons and rehabilitation therapists. The Corporation will also seek out partner organizations worldwide with which to collaborate in producing and distributing demonstration videos and disseminating information about local community resources.
For the continued development of an online video course and community for sharing skills for independence after spinal cord injury/disease, we recorded 37 new peer mentor introductions, received 24 skill demonstrations, and published 28 interviews and 21 demonstrations by years-end. 42 peer mentor volunteers shared their stories and skills on our YouTube Channel, with 112,503 new views and net gain of 417 subscribers. We received 15 direct requests for peer assistance. We also continued production of videos for a pilot course on C6-8 Quadriplegia skills, which will now soon include bed mobility and transfers. Getting out of bed independently is the most difficult, complex, and intimidating skill for the newly injured to learn, especially as they are also often battling depression, muscle atrophy, and a complete loss of balance.
