Organizations Filed Purposes: ROOTED IN THE LOVING MINISTRY OF JESUS AS HEALER, WE COMMIT OURSELVES TO SERVING ALL PERSONS WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO ARE POOR AND VULNERABLE. OUR CATHOLIC HEALTH MINISTRY IS DEDICATED TO SPIRITUALLY-CENTERED, HOLISTIC CARE WHICH SUSTAINS AND IMPROVES THE HEALTH OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES. WE ARE ADVOCATES FOR A COMPASSIONATE AND JUST SOCIETY THROUGH OUR ACTIONS AND OUR WORDS.

TO ACTIVELY SEEK AND INVEST CHARITABLE SUPPORT FOR ST. VINCENT'S MEDICAL CENTER, SO THAT THEY MAY IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE.

DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED SEPTEMBER 30, 2019, ST. VINCENT'S FOUNDATION RELEASED APPROXIMATELY $2,057,500 TO ITS AFFILIATE ST. VINCENT'S MEDICAL CENTER TO PAY FOR OPERATING AND CAPITAL NEEDS. ST. VINCENT'S MEDICAL CENTER RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY $1,696,000 IN CAPITAL SUPPORT, WHICH PRIMARILY ASSISTED IN THE PURCHASE OF NEEDED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND OTHER UNRESTRICTED CAPITAL NEEDS. SOME OF THE EQUIPMENT PURCHASED WILL BE USED FOR NEWBORN HEARING CARE, IN BREAST HEALTH SCREENINGS, AND FOR THE NEEDS OF VARIOUS ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENTS. THE MEDICAL CENTER ALSO RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY $361,000 WHICH WAS USED TO SUBSIDIZE THE OPERATING COSTS OF VARIOUS MEDICAL CENTER PROGRAMS FOR WHICH THERE IS NO OTHER AVAILABLE FUNDING SOURCE. DURING FY 2019 THESE MONIES PROVIDED FREE BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS, FREE BLOOD SUGAR AND CHOLESTEROL SCREENINGS, PROVIDED FREE PUBLIC LECTURES AND SCREENINGS FOR CANCER, AND SUPPORTED THE MEDICAL MISSION AT HOME, WHICH IS A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES FREE HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO NEEDY POPULATIONS IN THE GREATER BRIDGEPORT AREA.

IN FISCAL 2019, ST. VINCENT'S FOUNDATION PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY $888,000 TO SUPPORT OTHER PROGRAMS OF THE MEDICAL CENTER AND ST. VINCENT'S COLLEGE. ST. VINCENT'S FOUNDATION'S "SWIM ACROSS THE SOUND" CAMPAIGN PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY $589,000 IN SUPPORT TO SWIM PROGRAMS. SINCE 1987, THE SWIM HAS RAISED FUNDS TO OFFER OVER 40 DIFFERENT CANCER EDUCATION, SCREENING AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE SWIM OFFERS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY NET TO OUR REGION BY PROVIDING ONE-ON-ONE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO CANCER PATIENTS IN THE COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, THE SWIM IS DEDICATED TO CANCER PREVENTION AND EARLY DETECTION. OUR MOBILE MAMMOGRAPHY PROGRAM OFFERS LOW-COST AND FREE MAMMOGRAPHY SCREENINGS AT COMMUNITY-BASED SENIOR CENTERS, CHURCHES, SYNAGOGUES AND OTHER LOCAL FACILITIES FOR THE MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED, AT RISK WOMEN OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT. THE SWIM ALSO HELPED CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH CANCER SUPPORT GROUPS, NUTRITION CLASSES, YOGA, MUSIC THERAPY AND MASSAGE FOR CANCER PATIENTS, SUNDAY BRUNCHES FOR ONCOLOGY PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, TRANSPORTATION NEEDS FOR NON-AMBULATORY CANCER PATIENTS UNDERGOING TREATMENT, SUBSIDIZED NAUSEA MEDICATION FOR PATIENTS RECEIVING CHEMOTHERAPY, PURCHASES OF PROSTHESIS AND WIGS FOR CANCER PATIENTS, SUBSIDIZED AT-HOME HOSPICE ASSISTANCE, AND SUBSIDIZED NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING. AN ADDITIONAL $297,000 IN FUNDING WAS PROVIDED FROM THE EMPLOYEE GIVING CAMPAIGN CONDUCTED AT ST. VINCENT'S MEDICAL CENTER. ST. VINCENT'S IS COMMITTED TO REAFFIRMING ITS OUTREACH TO THE VULNERABLE AND MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED. THIS COMMITMENT IS SHARED BY ITS EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE GENEROUSLY CONTRIBUTED YEAR AFTER YEAR TO THE EMPLOYEE GIVING CAMPAIGN. THIS CAMPAIGN PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES WHO WERE IN DIRE NEED OF FOOD, BEDDING, AND CLOTHING. THIS FUND ALSO ASSISTED FAMILIES WHO WERE AT RISK OF BECOMING HOMELESS OR REQUIRED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE WITH UTILITY BILLS. AN ADDITIONAL $2,500 WAS PROVIDED TO THE COLLEGE FOR AWARDS TO STUDENTS.

DURING FY2019, THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY $480,800 IN FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE CAPITAL AND OPERATING NEEDS OF ITS AFFILIATE ST. VINCENT'S SPECIAL NEEDS SERVICES. APPROXIMATELY $89,800 OF THIS SUPPORT PROVIDED PROGRAM ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS CLASS FIELD TRIPS AND OTHER OUTINGS, TO THE CLIENTS OF SPECIAL NEEDS CENTER. IT ALSO ASSISTED WITH SOME NEEDS OF THE MEDICAL MISSION AT HOME THAT WERE PROVIDED BY SPECIAL NEEDS. THE REMAINING $390,900 WAS USED TO PURCHASE NEEDED CAPITAL ITEMS INCLUDING ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT AND TOYS TO ASSIST IN CLIENT CARE, CLASSROOM FURNITURE, AND TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS TO BUILDINGS.
