Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF DOG STAR RESCUE IS TO SAVE STRAY, ABANDONED, SHELTER, AND OWNER SURRENDER DOGS OF ALL BREEDS AND AGES BY PLACING THEM IN QUALIFIED, CARING, LIFELONG HOMES.

DOG RESCUE - UNDER THE PRIMARY PROGRAM OF DOG RESCUE, DOG STAR RESCUE WILL: (1) RESCUE AS MANY DOGS AS POSSIBLE, INCLUDING THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY WITH THE VOLUNTEER AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES AVAILABLE, (2) SEEK SUITABLE ADOPTERS THROUGHOUT CONNECTICUT, NEW ENGLAND AND THE NORTHEASTERN UNITED STATES, AND EDUCATE THEM ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES AND COSTS OF PROVIDING A LIFELONG HOME TO RESCUED DOGS, (3) PROVIDE TEMPORARY HOMES AND VETERINARY CARE, INCLUDING SPAY/NEUTER SERVICES, FOR ALL DOGS UNDER OUR CARE, (4) REDUCE DOG OVERPOPULATION BY PROMOTING SPAYING AND NEUTERING, (5) OFFER MEANINGFUL, REWARDING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE, (6) STRENGTHEN OUR REPUTATION AS A PROFESSIONAL, PASSIONATE AND DEDICATED DOG RESCUE ORGANIZATION.

CT DOG GONE RECOVERY - UNDER THIS PROGRAM, A GROUP OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS SPECIALIZE IN HELPING OWNERS REUNITE WITH THEIR MISSING DOGS. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE CONSULTATION, EDUCATING OWNERS ON LOST PET BEHAVIOR, CREATING FLYERS, ADVISING AND ASSISTING EFFECTIVE POSTER DESIGN AND PLACEMENT, CREATING LOST DOG VIDEOS, NETWORKING ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER WEBSITES IN ORDER TO REACH OUT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. DOG GONE RECOVERY WILL ASSIST WITH SEARCH SET UPS AND PROVIDE RESOURCES TO AID IN CAPTURING LOOSE DOGS. THESE RESOURCES INCLUDE FIELD CAMERAS AND A VARIETY OF HUMANE TRAPS. THEY WILL ALSO ASSIST WITH PUTTING POSTERS UP, SEARCHING ON-SITE, AND REMOVAL OF POSTERS AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SEARCH. NOT ONLY WILL DOG GONE RECOVERY PROVIDE ALL THESE RESOURCES AT NO COST, BUT THEY WILL ACT AS A SUPPORT SYSTEM SO THAT OWNERS WILL NOT LOSE HOPE OR GIVE UP THEIR SEARCH.

DOG STARS FOR VETERANS (DS4V) - THIS PROGRAM IS DEVOTED TO MATCHING QUALIFIED VETERAN SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN WITH DESERVING HOMELESS ABANDONED DOGS, PROVIDING EACH WITH A REWARDING LIFE EXPERIENCE. THE MATCHMAKING IS COMPLETED BY PAIRING VETERANS WITH SPECIFICALLY SELECTED AND EVALUATED RESCUE DOGS BASED ON THE VETERAN'S PERSONALITY AND LIFESTYLE, TO MAKE THE PERFECT COMPANION MATCH. COMPANION DOGS HAVE THE ABILITY TO ASSIST VETERANS BY IMPROVING MENTAL WELL-BEING, MOTIVATING VETERANS TO GET OUT IN THE WORLD, AND ENHANCING DISABLED VETERANS TRANSITION INTO CIVILIAN LIFE. THE OVERALL MISSION OF DS4V IS TO BE A VETERAN DEDICATED PROGRAM FOCUSED ON MATCHING SPECIALLY IDENTIFIED RESCUE DOGS TO BE COMPANIONS AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOGS, AND TO HELP HEAL THE EMOTIONAL WOUNDS OF MILITARY VETERANS.
