The Greenwich Art Society offers a variety of art classes for adults, teens, and children. We also offer a lecture series and workshops , as well as , trips to NYC museums/galleries and overseas cultural trips for its members and the community at large. The Society also puts on two major juried exhibitions each year for area artists and other shows at local community venues. Our educational outreach and scholarship programs serve over 120 students per year from underprivileged CT communities.
Founded in 1912 by the Cos Cob Colony of American Expressionists, the Greenwich Arts Society's mission is to further education and stimulate interest in the visual arts.through classes, exhibitions, lectures, and gallery trips. The organization serves to promote a further cultural contribution through scholarships and educational outreach programs to underserved groups and individuals.
Conducted art classes in our own studio with a total of 401 semesters of students. Provided $3,333 for needy students to to participate in art classes.
Conducted two art shows at public venues. Members submitted 450 works of art and 170 were juried in by art professionals from New York City museums.
As part of an initiative to reach underserved students in the greater Fairfield County area, the Greenwich Art Society provides art programs involving music and art to expose inner city children to cultural enrichment activities that their schools are not able to provide.
