THE CHILDREN'S CENTER OF HAMDEN, INC. IS A PRIVATE NONPROFIT MULTI-SERVICE AGENCY. IT IS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING A SAFE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN IN TREATMENT FOR BEHAVIORAL, EMOTIONAL AND/OR LEARNING DISABILITIES IN ORDER FOR THEM TO GROW AND DEVELOP WITHIN A SETTING THAT FOSTERS POSITIVE LIFE EXPERIENCE.
THE CHILDREN'S CENTER OF HAMDEN IS A PRIVATE NONPROFIT MULTI-SERVICE AGENCY DEDICATED TO PROVIDING QUALITY TREATMENT AND EDUCATION IN A SAFE, NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN, YOUNG ADULTS AND FAMILIES IN THE LEAST RESTRICTIVE SETTING. OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS VALUES THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ITS DIVERSE WORKFORCE AND MONITORS THE MANAGEMENT OF AGENCY RESOURCES SO THAT EMPLOYEES CAN FOSTER POSITIVE AGE APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH BEHAVIORAL, EMOTIONAL AND/OR LEARNING DISABILITIES. MULTIDISCIPLINARY TREATMENT TEAMS ARE TRAINED TO ENHANCE THE WELLNESS AND TO PROTECT THE PRIVACY OF THOSE WE SERVE. WHILE CONTINUOUSLY ASSISTING EACH CHILD AND FAMILY TO ASSESS THEIR STRENGTHS, WE STRIVE TO PROVIDE SERVICES THAT ARE RESPECTFUL AND WELCOMING OF DIVERSE CULTURES AND IDENTITIES.
RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM - YOUTHS RECEIVE INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT DIRECTED BY A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TREATMENT TEAM WHICH INCLUDES THE YOUTH, THE FAMILY, THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN & FAMILIES AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS. SIGNIFICANT ATTENTION IS FOCUSED ON ENGAGING FAMILY MEMBERS VIA COMMUNICATION, FAMILY THERAPY, VISITS AND PROGRAM-WIDE FAMILY EVENTS. CLINICAL SERVICES INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY AND GROUP THERAPIES AS WELL AS RECREATIONAL SERVICES.
EDUCATION PROGRAM - STUDENTS, ELEMENTARY LEVEL THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL, RECEIVE A FULL COMPLEMENT OF SUBJECT MATTER INCLUDING PHYSICAL EDUCATION, ART, COMPUTERS, READING HELP AND SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SERVICES WHEN NEEDED. EACH CLASSROOM HAS BETWEEN 8 TO 12 STUDENTS. A TEAM APPROACH IS UTILIZED TO PROVIDE EACH STUDENT WITH THE INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT AND PROGRAMMING THEY NEED TO HELP THEM EXPERIENCE ACADEMIC SUCCESS.
DAY TREATMENT, SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING AND MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING PROGRAM - TO PROVIDE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING TO PATIENTS AND TO PROVIDE COUNSELING, NUTRITION AND SPECIAL SERVICES TO CHILDREN WHO DO NOT RESIDE AT THE CENTER. YOUTH PARTICIPATE IN ONE OF 8 DISTINCT TREATMENT GROUPS ACCORDING TO AGE AND DIAGNOSIS. EACH GROUP HAS ITS OWN SCHEDULE OF TREATMENT ACTIVITIES. ALL STAFF ARE FORMALLY TRAINED IN RISKING CONNECTIONS AND SOME ARE CERTIFIED AS PROJECT JOY FACILITATORS. TREATMENT INCLUDES BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT, INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY AND GROUP THERAPIES AS WELL AS MEDICATION MANAGEMENT WHEN NEEDED.
