Organizations Filed Purposes: JUDY DWORIN PERFORMANCE PROJECT (JDPP) IS AN ARTS NON-PROFIT THAT HARNESSES CREATIVE EXPRESSION AS A CATALYST FOR POSITIVE CHANGE. JDPP USES DANCE THEATER PERFORMANCE AND MULTI-ARTS ENGAGEMENT TO EXAMINE SOCIAL ISSUES, BUILD BRIDGES OF UNDERSTANDING ACROSS DIVERSE COMMUNITIES, AND INSPIRE BOTH INDIVIDUAL GROWTH AND COLLECTIVE ACTION. PARTICIPANTS IN JDPP'S PROGRAMS DISCOVER UNTAPPED RESOURCES AS THEY GROW AND HEAL, OPENING NEW AND PRODUCTIVE CHANNELS IN THE PRESENT AND FOR THE FUTURE.

THE AWARD-WINNING ENSEMBLE INSPIRES CHANGE THROUGH INNOVATIVE, DANCE THEATER EXAMINING CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES AND CULTURE. IN DECEMBER 2019, THE ENSEMBLE PRESENTED A RETROSPECTIVE EVENING, SHE SPEAKS HER PEACE, AT HARTFORD STAGE CELEBRATING JDPP'S 30TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY. JDPP IS DEVELOPING A NEW WORK, COLORFIELDS, INSPIRED BY ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST PAINTER HELEN FRANKENTHALER IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEW BRITAIN MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART. SINCE THE COVID CRISIS, THE ENSEMBLE HAS PRESENTED A SERIES OF ONLINE OPEN REHEARSALS AND A NEW SERIES: RESPONSE AND A CALL IN SUPPORT OF THE BLM MOVEMENT THAT WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

JDPP'S NOTED BRIDGING BOUNDARIES ARTS INTERVENTION PROGRAM COUPLES ARTS WITH SOCIAL WORK REACHING OUT TO THOSE AFFECTED BY INCARCERATION. THE WORK IS FEATURED IN THE CPTV DOCUMENTARY "MAKING ME WHOLE PRISON, ART & HEALING" (CPTV.ORG/MAKING-ME-WHOLE/). JDPP'S RESIDENCIES FOR WOMEN AT YORK CI INCLUDE A PERFORMANCE RESIDENCY, A MOMS & KIDS, PROGRAM, & MOST RECENTLY I A.M. (IMAGINATION, ARTS & ME) FOR 18 TO 25 YEAR OLDS. JDPP ALSO LEADS A DADS & KIDS PROGRAM AT CYBULSKI CI AS WELL AS AN IN-SCHOOL OUTREACH FOR CHILDREN WITH PARENTS IN PRISON. ADDITIONALLY JDPP OFFERS SEVERAL ARTS PROGRAMS FOR RETURNING CITIZENS. SINCE THE COVID-19 CRISIS, JDPP HAS BEEN ABLE TO CONTINUE ITS PRISON PROGRAMMING VIA CORRESPONDENCE IN COOPERATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION.

JDPP'S MOVING MATTERS PROGRAM OFFERS SCHOOLS ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS EXPLORING MOVEMENT AND THE CREATIVE ARTS AS TOOLS FOR LEARNING AND PERSONAL GROWTH. THE 25-YEAR MOVING MATTERS RESIDENCY PROGRAM AT PARKVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL ENGAGES THE ENTIRE SCHOOL IN A 12-WEEK RESIDENCY CULMINATING IN A JOYOUS PERFORMANCE AT TRINITY COLLEGE FOR PEERS, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. DESCRIBED AS A NATIONAL MODEL IN ARTS EVALUATIONS, IT IS A HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN JDPP, TRINITY COLLEGE AND PARKVILLE. IN 2020, THIS PROGRAM ALSO EXPANDED TO MOYLAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN HARTFORD. JDPP OFFERS SHORTER TERM RESIDENCIES THROUGH HARTFORD PERFORMS. ALL JDPP PROGRAMMING IS CONTINUING VIA VIRTUAL CLASSES DURING THE PANDEMIC.
