PARTNERSHIP FOR STRONG COMMUNITIES IS A STATEWIDE NONPROFIT POLICY AND ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO ENDING HOMELESSNESS, EXPANDING THE CREATION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING, AND BUILDING STRONG COMMUNITIES IN CONNECTICUT.
REACHING HOME IS THE STATEWIDE CAMPAIGN TO BUILD THE POLITICAL AND CIVIC WILL TO PREVENT AND END HOMELESSNESS IN CONNECTICUT. REACHING HOME IMPLEMENTS OPENING DOORS - CT, THE NATION'S FIRST STATEWIDE FRAMEWORK MODELED AFTER THE FEDERAL OPENING DOORS PLAN TO END HOMELESSNESS. IN THIS CAMPAIGN, THE PARTNERSHIP HAS TAKEN A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN A PROCESS OF COLLECTIVE IMPACT TO CREATE AND IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS BY CONVENING A BROAD COALITION OF PARTNERS ACROSS A SPECTRUM OF SYSTEMS AND SECTORS. AS THE BACKBONE ORGANIZATION IN THIS PROCESS, THE PARTNERSHIP WORKS TO CONNECT THE DOTS ACROSS A MULTITUDE OF INITIATIVES, AGENCIES, AND PRIORITIES, IN ORDER TO CREATE ONE UNIFIED AGENDA. THE PARTNERSHIP LEADS THE STATEWIDE POLICY, ADVOCACY, AND MOBILIZATION OF RESOURCES AND SUPPORT FOR THE EFFORT.
HOMECONNECTICUT IS THE PARTNERSHIP'S CAMPAIGN TO WIDEN THE SPECTRUM OF AFFORDABLE HOMES IN CONNECTICUT COMMUNITIES. THE CAMPAIGN WORKS TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING AS A WAY TO ENHANCE ECONOMIC GROWTH, OPPORTUNITY AND TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF LOW AND MIDDLE INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN CONNECTICUT. THE CAMPAIGN WORKS TO PROVIDE MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES AND CHOICES BY DEVELOPING MORE AFFORDABLE AND MIXED-INCOME HOUSING IN MANY MORE CITIES AND TOWNS WITH ACCESS TO HIGHER-RESOURCE SCHOOLS, HEALTHY FOOD, EMPLOYMENT, SERVICES, HEALTH CARE, AND TRANSIT. INCREASING HOUSING OPTIONS WILL SUPPORT LOW- AND MODERATE- INCOME FAMILIES IN SELECTING COMMUNITIES TO RAISE THEIR FAMILIES. THE PARTNERSHIP CONDUCTS LOCAL OUTREACH AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WITH MUNICIPALITIES INTERESTED IN PLANNING FOR THE CREATION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
EDUCATIONAL/OUTREACH PROGRAM: THE PARTNERSHIP ORGANIZES EDUCATIONAL EVENTS THAT INCREASE KNOWLEDGE AND BROADEN THE BASE OF THOSE WHO CARE ABOUT HOUSING. WE PRODUCE AN ANNUAL SERIES OF FORUMS THAT EXPLORE THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN HOUSING POLICY AND VARIOUS DISCIPLINES, INCLUDING EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY, TRANSPORTATION, HEALTH CARE, FOOD SECURITY, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND MORE. WE PRODUCE POLICY BRIEFS, GATHER INFORMATION AND AGGREGATE RESEARCH AND REPORTS TO INFORM STATE POLICYMAKERS, MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS, AND BROADER COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS. WE CONVENE EXPERTS, ADVOCATES, PRACTITIONERS, AND BUSINESS, COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT LEADERS. OUR EXECUTIVES AND POLICY STAFF SPEAK AT CONFERENCES ACROSS THE STATE, REGION AND NATION. WE PROVIDE THE MEETING PLACE FOR SHARING IDEAS AND SHAPING SOLUTIONS: THE LYCEUM RESOURCE AND CONFERENCE CENTER IN HARTFORD.
