TO PARTNER WITH COMMUNITIES TO PROVIDE ACADEMIC AND NON-ACADEMIC SERVICES TO CHILDREN TO SUPPORT EDUCATION KINDERGARTEN THROUGH COLLEGE.
BUFFALO, NY CHAPTER:BUFFALO CHAPTER EMBRACES THE ENTIRE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, IMPLEMENTING SUPPORT SERVICES TO ADDRESS ACADEMIC, SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL AND HEALTH NEEDS OF STUDENTS. UNLIKE SYRACUSE, BUFFALO PUBLIC SCHOOLS WERE DIVIDED INTO FOUR COHORTS, WITH EACH INCLUDING EQUAL REPRESENTATION OF HIGH, MID AND LOW PERFORMING SCHOOLS. THE FOLLOWING SERVICES HAVE BEEN ROLLED OUT TO EACH COHORT: AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMING, COLLEGE COACHING, MENTORING, TUTORING AND ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE, PARENT CENTERS, A CITY-WIDE BOYS AND MEN OF COLOR EFFORT AND LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR FAMILIES. ADDITIONAL SERVICES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AND STUDENT MONITORING.
CLEVELAND, OH CHAPTER:CLEVELAND, OH CHAPTER WAS OFFICIALLY ADDED TO THE SAY YES COMMUNITY IN THE 2019 FISCAL YEAR. THE PROGRAMMING OUTLINE WILL MIRROR THE BUFFALO, NY CHAPTER. IMPLEMENTING SUPPORT SERVICES TO ADDRESS ACADEMIC, SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL AND HEALTH NEEDS OF STUDENTS. FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALISTS, LEGAL SERVICES, AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS ARE ROLLING OUT CURRENTLY.
HARLEM, NY COHORT:HARLEM CURRENTLY WORKS WITH 270 STUDENTS. THIS WAS THE FIRST SAY YES COHORT TO IMPLEMENT THE STUDENT MONITORING SYSTEM. A RANGE OF SUPPORTS ARE PROVIDED TO THE STUDENTS AND FAMILIES, INCLUDING EXTENDED DAY/YEAR PROGRAMMING, TUTORING, FAMILY OUTREACH AND SUPPORT, SOCIAL SERVICES, SCHOLARSHIPS TO HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES, AS WELL AS PARENT AND SIBLING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, AND FREE LEGAL SERVICES. THESE SERVICES HELP TO CREATE A POSITIVE, SUSTAINING FRAMEWORK FOR EACH STUDENT'S ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE-ONE THAT ENCOURAGES AND REWARDS CONTINUED EFFORT.
