Organizations Filed Purposes: DEDICATED TO ELIMINATING RACISM, EMPOWERING WOMEN, AND PROMOTING PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM AND DIGNITY FOR ALL. THIS MULTI-SERVICE, MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION PROVIDES EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING, YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, EMERGENCY SHELTER, SUPPORTIVE HOUSING, AND FINANCIAL LITERACY.

EARLY CHILDHOOOD EDUCATION SERVICES - YWCA HARTFORD REGION PROVIDED HIGH-QUALITY LEARNING EXPERIENCES, FOR APPROXIMATELY 350 INFANTS, TODDLERS, AND PRE-SCHOOLERS, IN 5 YEAR-ROUND EARLY LEARNING CENTERS. THESE SERVICES ARE DESIGNED TO PREPARE THE CHILDREN FOR SUCCESS IN KINDERGARTEN AND BEYOND, WHILE FOCUSING ON THE VALUES OF DIVERSITY AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS. IN ADDITION, YW KIDSLINK PROVIDED BEFORE-AND-AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING FOR MORE THAN 400 STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FIFTH GRADE AT 8 LOCATIONS. PROGRAMMING OFFERED MISSION-BASED CREATIVE ACTIVITIES TO EDUCATE AND INSPIRE CHILDREN. THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS, YWCA HARTFORD REGION ALSO PROVIDED MORE THAN 54,000 MEALS AND SNACKS, INCLUDING NEARLY 20,700 FREE AND REDUCED-PRICED MEALS.

HOUSING PROGRAMS - AT SOROMUNDI COMMONS, YWCA HARTFORD REGION PROVIDED SAFE, TEMPORARY SHELTER FOR APPROXIMATELY 90 INDIVIDUAL WOMEN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. THE PROGRAM IS AN 18-BED EMERGENCY SHELTER SUPPORTED BY AN ARRAY OF SERVICES OFFERED ONSITE TO ASSIST EACH WOMAN IN OBTAINING HOUSING, ADDRESSING HEALTH ISSUES, SEEKING EMPLOYMENT, AND STRENGTHENING DAILY LIVING SKILLS. IN ADDITION, A 29-APARTMENT, PERMANENT, SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM PROVIDED AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO 34 FORMERLY HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS. PARTICIPANTS HAVE ACCESS TO FLEXIBLE, INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICES, AS NEEDED, IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE AND RETAIN PERMANENT HOUSING, INCREASE SKILLS AND INCOME, AND ACHIEVE GREATER SELF-DETERMINATION. ALL SERVICES AT SOROMUNDI COMMONS ARE PROVIDED USING A TRAUMA-INFORMED, PERSON-CENTERED, CULTURALLY CONSCIOUS, HOUSING-FIRST APPROACH, DESIGNED TO PRESERVE THE DIGNITY OF EACH INDIVIDUAL.

TEEN SERVICES - THE YOUNG WOMENS LEADERSHIP CORPS (YWLC) HELPED 120 GIRLS AND TEENS, AGES 12 TO 18, DEVELOP PERSONAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS, IMPROVE DECISION-MAKING SKILLS, PRACTICE HEALTHY BEHAVIORS, IMPROVE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, EXPLORE THE OPPORTUNITIES OF A COLLEGE EDUCATION WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON STEM CAREERS, AND DEVELOP ESSENTIAL LIFE SKILLS EMPHASIZING FINANCIAL LITERACY AND CAREER READINESS. PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED AT 5 WEEKLY, SCHOOL-BASED SITES AND A MONTHLY SATURDAY SITE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND AS A 5-WEEK, SUMMER INTENSIVE SESSION.
