The non-profit Connecticut Health Investigative Team, C-HIT, is dedicated to producing original, responsible, in-depth journalism on issues of health and safety in Connecticut and the surrounding region.
C-HIT provides the public with in-depth stories about key health, safety and medical issues that are published on its website and by its media partners. The stories, many investigative, examine the systemic problems within the healthcare system and affect people. C-HIT's stories focus on the quality of care provided by hospitals, home health care agencies, nursing homes, and other care facilities. It reports on regulatory actions by government agencies; mental health treatment issues involving children and adults; elderly care; health care reform and veterans' health issues. C-HIT also mentors college journalism students and provides practical reporting experience. High school journalism students have an opportunity to attend summer investigative reporting workshops.
