Organizations Filed Purposes:
SLIFKA CENTER IS AN INDEPENDENT SELF SUPPORTING NON-PROFIT THAT SERVES THE YALE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF, AND THE GREATER NEW HAVEN JEWISH COMMUNITY.
THE SLIFKA DINING PROGRAM IS THE ONLY SOURCE OF KOSHER DINING AVAILABLE AT YALE, AND SERVES MORE THAN 1,000 MEALS PER WEEK TO JEWISH AND NON-JEWISH STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND MEMBERS OF THE NEW HAVEN COMMUNITY. PART OF THE YALE MEAL PLAN, SLIFKA DINING IS THE ONLY DINING FACILITY TO OFFER EXTENDED DINING HOURS, AND SERVES STUDENTS WHO CANNOT BE SERVED ELSEWHERE ON CAMPUS. THE DINING PROGRAM IS A DRAW TO STUDENTS FROM MANY CAMPUS COMMUNITIES, FAITHS, AND CULTURES, AND IS THE CENTRAL HUB FOR SHABBAT AND JEWISH HOLIDAY MEALS AND OBSERVANCES ON CAMPUS AS WELL AS A GO-TO PLACE FOR STUDENTS IN VARIOUS DEGREES OF FINANCIAL NEED.
STUDENT AND YALE COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING - THE SLIFKA CENTER PRODUCES AND SUPPORTS MANY PROGRAMS FOR THE JEWISH COMMUNITY ON CAMPUS AS WELL AS PROGRAMS GEARED TO SHARING JUDAISM AND JEWISH CULTURE WITH THE NON-JEWISH COMMUNITY. THESE PROGRAMS CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERACTION AND DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE JEWISH COMMUNITY AND OTHER RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL GROUPS ACROSS CAMPUS. PROGRAMMING CATEGORIES INCLUDE SOCIAL JUSTICE, ARTS/CULTURE, ISRAEL PROGAMMING AND VARIOUS OTHER STUDENT AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS. 500-600 STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN SLIFKA CENTER PROGRAMMING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE SLIFKA CENTER ALSO HOSTS RELIGIOUS PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR THE CAMPUS JEWISH COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND DURING JEWISH HOLIDAYS. THIS CAN INCLUDE FROM 10 PEOPLE AT DAILY SERVICES TO 500 PEOPLE FOR HOLIDAY SERVICES.
