Organizations Filed Purposes: The mission of The Worthington Hooker PTA shall be to support and promote parent, guardian and community participation in Worthington Hooker School; to develop between educators and community a joint effort that will enable all children in our school to reach their highest educational, physical and social potential.

The Worthington Hooker PTA sponsors a number of programs and events to further its mission of fostering community and promoting the education of our children.

After School Program: Our after school program provides care for Worthington Hooker School students between the close of school at 3PM until 5:30PM. The program offers flexible enrollment of 1-5 days per week and serves over 90 children in all grades. Group crafts, games and sports are organized and homework help and an afternoon snack are provided. Spanish language instruction is offered two afternoons per week for children from kindergarten through 5th grade.

School Curriculum & Support: Our classroom support is varied. Our largest single effort consists of providing funding to each of our 19 regular classroom teachers and 12 special and support teachers to cover classroom supplies. We hire a math support and enrichment teacher for 5 days per week at our K-2 school to replace a position eliminated after district funding cuts. The PTA pays for all field trip travel expenses for K-8 and provides scholarships for some families that could not otherwise afford to attend field trips. We fund Worthington Hooker School's membership in the Hots School Network which integrates arts in all aspects of our curriculum as well as participation in the Science Fair, Book Bowl and National Junior Honor Society.

School Events & Programs: The PTA organizes and funds a number of events to strengthen community and strengthen connections between students, teachers, administrators and parents. Some are school wide such as our Fall Garden Party, our Spring End of the Year Potluck, International Day Dinner and Ice Cream Social. Other events are grade specific such as the Kindergarten Welcome Party, Chinese New Year, and the Upper School Barn Dance. We host a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon and print a school wide directory.
