Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MARITIME AQUARIUM PROVIDES GUESTS WITH IMMERSIVE LIVE ANIMAL EXHIBITS THAT ALLOW GUESTS TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FACING THE LONG ISLAND SOUND, THE OCEANS BEYOND AND THE ANIMALS THAT LIVE THERE. THE AQUARIUM IS FULLY ENGAGED AND CONTINUALLY GROWING THE RESEARCH AND CONSERVATION INITIATIVES OF THE FACILITY IN AN EFFORT TO BETTER INFORM OUR GUESTS AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE OF HOW THEY CAN HELP IN THE PRESERVATION OF THE SOUND AND THE OCEANS BEYOND. THE AQUARIUM IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE FULL ENGAGEMENT OF THE NORWALK COMMUNITY AS WELL AS REGIONAL EDUCATION, RESEARCH, CONSERVATION AND GUEST ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES.

OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDING, ON-SITE PROGRAMS, TRAVELING TEACHER, AFTERSCHOOL AND WHOLE SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS REACH NEARLY 60,000 STUDENTS. SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL AND REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE CRITICALLY IMPORTANT TO OUR MISSION AND AID IN PREPARING STUDENTS FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS. OUR PROGRAMS ARE TIED TO LOCAL, REGIONAL AND NATIONAL CURRICULUM STANDARDS. THESE PROGRAMS INTEGRATE LIVE ANIMALS, INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY IN AN EFFORT TO TEACH STUDENTS EDUCATIONAL CONTENT AND STRATEGIES FOR PRESERVING HEALTHY ECOSYSTEMS. THE AQUARIUM HAS A GROWING INVOLVEMENT IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR TEACHERS SPECIFICALLY IN THE AREA OF STEM PROGRAMMING.

OUR IMAX THEATER PLAYS A MAJOR ROLE IN PROVIDING AN ADDITIONAL MEANS OF DELIVERING THE MESSAGE OF OUR MISSION. THE ENGAGING FULL SCREEN FORMAT OF THE MISSION BASED PROGRAMS DELIVERED IN OUR IMAX THEATER IMMERSE OUR GUESTS IN UNIQUE ENVIRONMENTS INCLUDING CORALS REEF ECOSYSTEMS, THE ARCTIC, THE GREAT PLAINS AND SOME OF THE DEEPEST DEPTHS OF OUR OCEANS. THE IMAX THEATER ALSO PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE AQUARIUM TO PROVIDE AFTER HOUR IMAX EXPERIENCES THAT ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY AND GUESTS THROUGHOUT THE REGION.
