IS TO EFFECTIVELY ADDRESS THE CAUSES AND COMPLEXITIES OF THE HOMELESS AND WORKING POOR BY PROVIDING SHELTER, FOOD, CLOTHING, CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, TREATMENT SERVICES, TRANSITIONAL PLANNING FOR SHORT AND LONG TERM GOALS, SUBSIDIZED HOUSING, EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT, AND A PATH TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE AND SUCCESS.

PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE SOCIAL SERVICES INCLUDING SHELTER, OUTREACH, FOOD, COUNSELING, HOUSING, JOB TRAINING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR THOSE LIVING IN POVERTY AND THE HOMELESS.

Sheltering: Open Doors operates an emergency shelter that, during the calendar year, sheltered 294 individuals including 44 children. The shelter case management services team provides comprehensive services including counseling, crisis intervention, goal planning, referrals to additional community support services, financial management, job search and skill training, transition to housing support and access to hot meals, shelter, shower, toiletries, clothing laundry facilities and computers/phones. Children also receive pre-school education and after school/homework assistance, school supplies, snacks and recreation activities.

Nutrition: The Manna House Food Program, a hot meal program provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days per week to those in need. The shelter also provides a food pantry, where boxed food is distributed daily to the impovershed. Last year a total of 80,571 hot meals were served or an average of 221 meals a day. In addition the shelter pantry provided 136,740 meals to individuals living in poverty or 375 meals a day.

Housing: Open Doors uses Housing First, an evidence based model which seeks to connect the homeless to housing as quickly as possible, while providing the supportive services people need to avoid returning to homelessness. Open Doors operates 55 units of supportive housing in 8 properties and delivers case management and fiduciary services to more than 50 formerly homeless individuals and families.
