ENRICHING THE LIVES OF ALL BEINGS BY PROMOTING COMPASSION AND ACCEPTANCE

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING: THROUGH IN-SCHOOL EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS, THE FOUNDATION'S INTERGENERATIONAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS REACHED OVER 10,000 DURING 2019, AN INCREASE OF OVER 2,000 VERSUS 2018. K-6 CIRRICULUM WAS TAUGHT IN THE CLASSROOM AND ONSITE, INVITING STUDENTS TO EXPLORE AND UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANT ROLE NATIVE WILDLIFE PLAYS IN THE ECOSYSTEM AND THE RESPONSIBILITY THEY HOLD AS STEWARDS OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE ANIMALS THAT CALL IT HOME. CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION IS TRANSLATED INTO FREE MONTHLY PROGRAMMING WHICH INVITES ALL AGES TO EXPLORE RELEVANT CONTENT TAUGHT BY AREA EXPERTS AND PARTNERS.

BUTTERFLY PARTY: A FREE COMMUNITY PROGRAM, IN 2019 CATHERINE'S BUTTERFLY PARTY WELCOMED OVER 7,000 HUMANS AND FOUND HOMES FOR 64 COMPANION ANIMALS. CATHERINE'S BUTTERFLY PARTY HIGHLIGHTS THE WAY THE FOUNDATION EXECUTES ITS MISSION FOR HONORING THE BOND BETWEEN HUMANS AND ANIMALS. THE ONE-DAY EVENT PROVIDES A FORUM FOR ANIMAL WELFARE AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATORS TO EDUCATE GUESTS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF CARING FOR NOT ONLY THE ANIMALS IN OUR CARE, BUT THE HABITATS IN WHICH THEY LIVE. ADDITIONALLY, 28 TRI-STATE ANIMAL RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS AND SHELTERS FIND HOMES FOR ANIMALS IN NEED OF A FOREVER FAMILY. POWERED BY SPONSORSHIP SUPPORT, IN JUST FIVE YEARS, CATHERINE'S BUTTERFLY PARTY HAS GROWN TO BECOME THE HIGHEST ATTENDED SINGLE DAY EVENT IN NEWTOWN.

THE SENIOR PAW PROJECT: SENIOR CAREGIVERS, BECAUSE OF FINANCIAL STRAIN, MANY TIMES ARE FORCED TO MAKE CHOICES BETWEEN THEIR OWN BASIC CARE AND THEIR PETS. OFTEN TIMES, THESE SENIORS WILL SACRIFICE THEIR OWN HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OR WILL ULTIMATELY BE FORCED TO SURRENDER THEIR PET TO ANIMAL CONTROL. THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES, HOUSING AUTHORITIES, AND HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, THE SENIOR PAW PROJECT INTERCEDES, PROVIDING RESOURCES THAT KEEP CAREGIVER AND PET TOGETHER. IN 2019, THE SENIOR PAW PROJECT, BECAUSE OF A GRANT FROM PET SMART CHARITIES, FOUNDATIONS AND INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS, SUPPORTED 52 CASES AND PROVIDED 3,200 PET FOOD MEALS.
