THE MISSION OF CONNECTICUT CHALLENGE, INC IS TO EMPOWER CANCER SURVIVORS TO LIVE HEALTHIER, HAPPIER AND LONGER LIVES CTC CONTINUED ITS MISSION RELATED PROGRAMS IN 2018. THESE INCLUDE GRANTS FOR SURVIVORSHIP PROGRAMS AT COUNTY-BASED HOSPITALS AND CANCER CENTERS, GRANTS TO COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, DELIVERY OF CANCER SURVIVORSHIP INFORMATION, EDUCATION REFERRAL AND SUPPORT SERVICES, AND THE OPERATION OF THE CENTER FOR CANCER SURVIVORSHIP. CTC EMPOWERS CANCER SURVIVORS TO LIVE LONGER, HAPPIER, AND HEALTHIER LIVES BY CREATING AND FUNDING PROGRAMS, OFFERING CREDIBLE RESOURCES AND BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT. THE CTC IS DEDICATED TO MAKING A MEASURABLE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF CANCER SURVIVORS THROUGH CTC EVENTS AND CENTER FOR SURVIVORSHIP PROGRAMS.
THE MISSION TRAINING CENTER: THE 8,000 SQUARE-FOOT STATE-OF-THE-ART MISSION TRAINING CENTER IN SOUTPORT, CT IS A PARADIGM-SHIFTER, AN INCUBATOR FOR BEST PRACTICES IN WELLNESS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS, THE CENTERPIECE OF ALL MISSION PROGRAMS. BLENDING EXERCISE, NUTRITION EDUCATION AND MIND-BODY HEALTH AND STAFFED BY EXPERIENCED, COMPASSIONATE TRAINERS, INSTRUCTORS AND NUTRITIONISTS WITH EXPERTISE IN WORKING WITH CANCER SURVIVORS, IT, ALONG WITH ALL MISSION PROGRAMS, IS FILLING A HOLE IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM: THERE ARE FEW COMPREHENSIVE, DEDICATED WELLNESS RESOURCES FOR SURVIVORS.CLASSES AND RESOURCES OFFERED INCLUDE: CARDIO/STRENGTH FLOOR; PHYSICAL THERAPY; PERSONAL TRAINING; NUTRITION ONE-ON-ONES; MIND-BODY STUDIO AND AN ARRAY OF EXERCISE CLASSES INCLUDING YOGA; PILATES; SPINNING; TRX AND MORE.DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2018, THE CENTER SAW 790 UNIQUE VISITORS TOTALING 10,033 UNIQUE VISITS, CONDUCTED 838 PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS, ALONG WITH 32 GROUP CLASSES PER WEEK.
EDUCATION & DIGITAL WELLNESS: MISSION IS COMMITTED TO RAISING AWARENESS AND ADVANCING SKILL SETS NEEDED TO MOVE SURVIVORS BEYOND CANCER. THROUGH OUR DIGITAL PLATFORMS FUELED BY ADVANCED SEO STRATEGIES, WE PUT THE EXERCISE, NUTRITION, MIND-BODY HEALTH AND COMMUNITY-BUILDING SUPPORT PROGRAMS INCUBATED AT THE MISSION TRAINING CENTER WITHIN REACH OF ANY SURVIVOR IN NEED OF THEM, REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY LIVE.DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2018, YOURMISSION.ORG (LAUNCHED MARCH 14, 2017) SITE HAD 12,311 UNIQUE VISITORS TOTALING 33,120 PAGE VIEWS; NOT ONLY WITHIN 50 STATES BUT IN 69 COUNTRIES AS WELL. SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS FOR THE BRANDS "CT CHALLENGE AND "MISSION" IN 2018 REACHED 4,250 FOR FACEBOOK, 1,388 FOR INSTAGRAM, AND 1,278 FOR TWITTER. THE CT CHALLENGE MANAGES A SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM FOR THE BIKE EVENT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WITH A WEEKLY PRESENCE ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM. THIS PLATFORM IS ANOTHER CHANNEL THAT REACHES CANCER SURVIVORS THROUGH THE BIKE EVENT. MISSION SENT OUT 26 E-NEWSLETTERS IN 2018 WITH AN AUDIENCE OF OVER 2,000 PLUS CANCER SURVIVORS. EACH E-NEWSLETTER PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL CONTENT IN EXERCISE, NUTRITION AND MIND-BODY THAT IS READ AND VIEWED BY THE MISSION READER BASE.
GRANTS & GENERAL PROGRAMS FOR THE CONNECTICUT CHALLENGE, INC. D/B/A: MISSION: MISSION PROGRAMS ARE CHANGING THE GAME FOR ALL WHO BATTLE CANCER BY GIVING THEM THE CRITICAL NEXT STEPS THEY NEED TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE OF CANCER AND STAY THERE. CTC MISSION RELATED PROGRAMS INCLUDED GRANTS FOR SURVIVORSHIP PROGRAMS AT COUNTY-BASED HOSPITAL CENTERS, COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND EVENTS INCLUDING: ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS; SUMMER CAMP. COMMUNITY OUTREACH INCLUDED THE MISSION SPEAKER SERIES, YOGA FOR LIFE; HOSPITAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE MOBILE MAMMOGRAPHY SCREENING, AND SELECT ONE-ON-ONE LIFE COACHING.IN 2016, CTC MISSION BETA TESTED THE ADVENTURE PROJECT WHICH BEGAN ROLL-OUT IN 2017; A MARQUEE PROGRAM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE SURVIVORS UNDER THE AGE OF 30 WITH EARLY INTERVENTION HEALTH AND WELLNESS KNOWLEDGE, RESOURCES AND MINDSET NEEDED TO BUILD AND REINFORCE THE LIFESTYLE HABITS THAT CAN COUNTER THE LIFE-LIMITING EFFECTS OF CANCER AND ITS TREATMENTS.DURING CALENDAR 2018, MISSION SERVED CANCER SURVIVORS IN THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS: ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS 39; SUMMER CAMP 150; SPEAKER SERIES 425; WORKSHOPS 200; YOGA FOR LIFE 75; HOSPITAL PROGRAMS 700; ADVENTURE PROJECT 21.
