THE 35TH SEASON (19-20) WAS TO INCLUDE FOUR SYMPOSIUMS. 1. ILYA POLETAEV RETURNED TO HELICON, WITH TWO NEW GUESTS, TO PERFORM MUSIC BY ROBERT AND CLARA SCHUMANN, THE ROMANTIC AGES POWER COUPLE.2. MUSIC OF SCANDINAVIA. GRIEG AND SIBELIUS ARE BEST KNOWN FOR THEIR ORCHESTRAL WORKS THIS TIME WE FOCUSED ON THEIR DAZZLING CHAMBER MUSIC.3. QUINTESSENTIAL II: THIS SYMPOSIUM IS ANOTHER OF HELICONS SHOWCASE OF OBSCURE WORKS FOR QUINTET BROUGHT OUT OF THE SHADOWS.4.CONCERTOS FOR VARIOUS INSTRUMENTS IS THE RATHER UNASSUMING TITLE GIVEN BY BACH TO ONE OF HIS BEST BELOVED COLLECTIONS, THE BRANDENBURG CONCERTOS, WE END THE SEASON WITH THE COLORFUL SIDE OF BACH AND HIS CONTEMPORARIES, MIXING STRINGS AND WINDS TOGETHER IN A KALEIDOSCOPE OF SOUND TO BRING THE DISTINCT AND DIVERSE TOGETHER IN CONCERT AND HARMONY.* *THIS FOURTH CONCERT WAS CANCELLED (AS WAS THE SPRING FUNDRAISING BENEFIT).SOME SYMPOSIUM COSTS NOT INCURRED MANAGED TO OFFSET THE LOSS OF BENEFIT REVENUE.
