KidsPlays interactive exhibits and programs spark curiosity and present learning concepts in ways that are meaningful to children ages 1 - 10. The Museum enriches the educational landscape with purposeful, creative learning through play.
The Museum operates interactive, hands-on exhibits where children and their families practice pre-academic skills, build curiosity and explore through developmental play. The Museum is a safe, creative and stimulating child-centered learning environment. The Museum presents learning concepts in ways that foster innovative thinking and are meaningful to children and their families. The exhibits provide opportunities for young children to discover, imagine, collaborate and create. These experiences prepare children to thrive intellectually, socially and emotionally.
KidsPlay offers educational programs to enhance the cognitive and social-emotional growth of young children. The Museums Education Team incorporates research on the benefits of play to create joyful learning activities. These intentional learning activities integrate many fields of study and promote the development of the executive functions of the brain. The lessons are designed to guide the child to actively explore their world and practice learning in a group setting. Through these programs, the Museum educators encourage and support caregivers as active participants in the childs play-to-learn activities.
KidsPlay works collaboratively with local schools, libraries and other community partners to expand opportunities for informal family learning and to build a sense of community. KidsPlay hosts a series of collaborative programs, educational events, outreach activities and offers use of space to other non-profits and partners at lower than market fees. The Museums events were designed to bring families to the Museum to explore concepts like chemistry, earth and space science, and other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and the arts. Outreach activities brought KidsPlays hands on learning though play to schools, libraries and maker fairs. KidsPlay is a place where children and their families become better acquainted with a variety of community resources. The Museum is a vital component of an early childhood ecosystem that prepares children to thrive.
