THE. GLOBAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP. INSTITUTE ("THE INSTITUTE") PROVIDES FOUR. WEEKS OF. COMPREHENSIVE LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 YOUTHS AGES 15-20 DURING THE SUMMER. IT OFFERS OVER 60 HOURS OF PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING THAT IS CRITICAL FOR THEIR CAREER PREPARATION. THE INSTITUTE SUPPORTS LEADERSHIP CLUBS IN PARTNER SCHOOLS IN THREE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES THAT ARE FACILITATED BY GRADUATES OF THE. INSTITUTE AND SPONSORING TEACHERS. IN 2020, THE INSTITUTES LEADERSHIP GRADUATES DESIGNED, PRODUCED, AND EXECUTED A TWO-DAY LEADERSHIP SEMINAR CONFERENCE FOR OVER 100 STUDENTS. THE SEMINAR BROUGHT IN 100 DIFFERENT SPEAKERS FROM AROUND MEXICO AND OTHER COUNTRIES TO SERVE AS A RECRUITMENT INITIATIVE. FOR THE UPCOMING PROGRAM. THROUGH THE INSTITUTE SOME STUDENTS COMPETE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS TO ASSIST IN FUNDING THEIR FUTURE EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES. THE INSTITUTE, THROUGH INSTITUTE JR. PROVIDES A SUMMER EDUCATION ENRICHMENT PROGRAM SERVING OVER 100 CHILDREN AGES 6 TO 12. THIS ENRICHMENT PROGRAM TEACHES ART, MUSIC, SPORTS, AND BASIC ENGLISH.
AS PART OF OUR THEORY OF CHANGE, HANDS OFFERING HOPE FOUNDATION RECOGNIZES THAT THE STUDENTS WE WORK WITH ENGAGE IN A VARIETY OF AREAS THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES. WE HAVE IDENTIFIED HOME, SCHOOL, HEALTH AND SOCIAL CIRCLES THAT MOST INFLUENCE AND IMPACT THEIR ABILITY TO THRIVE. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE PROVIDE EXPERT LED TRAINING IN THESE FOUR AREAS. THIS INCLUDES: 1. FIRST AID AND TRIAGE TRAINING TO FIRST RESPONDERS, DOCTORS AND NURSES AT THE LOCAL HOSPITALS; 2. PEDAGOGICAL TRAINING FOR HIGH SCHOOL, MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS; 3. FACILITATION OF DISCUSSIONS WITH PASTORS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS CENTERED ON CARING FOR YOUNG ADULTS IN A CHANGING WORLD; AND 4. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT CLASSES FOR LOCAL PARENTS AND REGULAR CHECK-INS WITH FAMILIES OF OUR STUDENTS.
IN EARLY 2019, HANDS OFFERING HOPE FOUNDATION BEGAN THE PROCESS OF PARTNERING WITH HANDS OFFERING HOPE MEXICO TO PURCHASE A BUILDING THAT WOULD SERVE AS AN ANCHORING LOCATION FOR PROGRAMMING AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT. THIS BUILDING SERVED AS OUR HEADQUARTERS FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSES RELATED TO COVID-19 AND HURRICANES THAT HIT THE REGION IN SEPTEMBER.
