Organizations Filed Purposes: THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HARTFORD, INC. IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VOLUNTARISM, DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF WOMEN, AND IMPROVING COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE ACTION AND LEADERSHIP OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HARTFORD SUPPORTS SEVERAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS AND COLLABORATES WITH A NUMBER OF CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS AFFECTING CHANGE IN THE GREATER HARTFORD REGION. COMMUNITY PROJECTS TO SUPPORT THE MISSION, WITH A CURRENT FOCUS ON ALLEVIATING HUNGER AND PROMOTING NUTRITION IN GREATER HARTFORD INCLUDE FRESHPLACE COLLABORATIVE, SOUPER SUSTAINERS, KIDS IN THE KITCHEN, AND DONE IN A DAY PROJECTS.

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HARTFORD (JLH) PARTNERED WITH BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF HARTFORD (BGCH) FOR THE SMART GIRLS INITIATIVE. THE SMART GIRLS PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED TO OFFER AGE-SPECIFIC EXPERIENCES THAT ENHANCE GIRLS' PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH. IT IS A SMALL-GROUP PROGRAM THAT UTILIZES A COMBINATION OF INFORMATIONAL AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES TO HELP FEMALE BGCH MEMBERS DEVELOP THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NECESSARY TO PRACTICE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES. THE PROGRAM OFFERS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR AREA YOUNG WOMEN TO LEARN FROM AND NETWORK WITH JLH MEMBERS. THE SMART GIRLS PROGRAM HELPS GIRLS BUILD THAT FOUNDATION BY EQUIPPING THEM WITH CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN THE AREAS OF PHYSICAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS, MENTAL HEALTH AND SELF-ESTEEM, AND RELATIONSHIPS. ENCOMPASSING THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL CHANGES A GIRL WHO WILL GO THROUGH BETWEEN THE AGES OF 8 AND 18, THIS HOLISTIC APPROACH SUPPORTS HER COMPLETE EXPERIENCE.

VOLUNTEER-A-THON - THE JLH EXECUTED ITS FOURTH ANNUAL VOLUNTEER-A-THON IN NOVEMBER 2019, THE ORGANIZATION'S LARGEST MISSION-BASED FUNDRAISER. FUNDS WERE RAISED THROUGH INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS AND CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS, WHILE MEMBERS VOLUNTEERED FOR 26.2 CONSECUTIVE HOURS WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS INCLUDING JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT, PROJECT LINUS, MY SISTER'S PLACE, JOURNEY HOME AND MANY OTHERS. VOLUNTEERS COMMITTED TO ANY NUMBER OF THREE-HOUR SHIFTS TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUOUS EFFORTS, DISPLAYING THE VOLUNTEER POWER OF THE ORGANIZATION IN THE GREATER HARTFORD COMMUNITY.
